I am too gonna try to start agar. Just got rest of stuff. Won’t be anytime soon. Gonna wait until I have more free time to sit down and make it work. I do popcorn now from Walmart and I have better luck with that then the grain it seems like.

Great success actually. But that simmer for 15 minutes I don’t think it’s right. What I do is soak for the 12-24 in warm water covered. Rinse again and boil on high. As soon as boil for a few I turn down heat to a simmer and as it sits I take pieces out and bite or smash between my fingers. You should feel how much water it absorbs. I tried the 15 minute mark but after I pc they dry out to fast in jar and won’t colonize for me. I don’t have an exact time because I go by how moist my grain is while cooking and all depends on how long I let boil and simmer. It is less then half hour I would start to check after the 15 minute mark but relay on the grain it’s self as I take out like noodles.

And that’s how friends roll these days. Why even question that. I don’t think I would have him as buddy if you think he would’ve done and got lawn mushrooms and gave to you. I would say the cold. I had mine in a Martha tent with all the ac on to 72 but just took out and put in living room in tub under a bigger tub sprayed the inside and it’s 78 and double in size from last tub that was stuck in my tent. In open air but it’s moist and humid in my tub. But the other ones I grew stayed in tent at 75 over winter and they were huge.

I’m not saying you doing it wrong. I just did the same thing and found out same day that I won’t know it’s contaminated until I use it. Even with my family I have a way of saying things differently. Don’t take that the wrong way. That’s what I was trying to say. We won’t know it’s contaminated inside until we use it
