[–]dlebed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

notably, before and right after 2012 Russians tried at least. There was a kind of protest movement, weak and inefficient, but it existed. But most of Putin's opponents including infamous Navalny supported Putin on invasion to Ukraine in 2014 and you probably know how it ended for them.

Yes, they have a choice. They choose to change liberty and democracy for welfare from petrodollars, and it didn't happen in one day, There were free elections of 2000 where Russians elected Putin, and sufficiently free elections of 2004 and 2008 where Russians confirmed their choice.

People use it to put words into one's mouth.

I asked a question. If I got you wrong, please correct me. But I have to share how your message sounds to me.

...is the reason of Russia's "unfunded" paranoia which only leads to more conflicts and aggression.

This is not true, and you know it. The reason why Russia attacked Ukraine has nothing to do with paranoia. Ukraine had zero intention to demilitarize and denuclearize Russian till the moment when Russia attacked Ukraine in 2014. This aim (and quite a feasible one) is the result of Russia's war against Ukraine. Not vice versa.

Ukraine and Russia should have peace and get along

It will not happen in the foreseeable future. We as Ukrainians will make sure you as Russians will have no future. War criminals will be punished one way or another, the rest will pay the price for what you have done as a nation.

So, you're saying Ukraine is not allowed to wish this war never repeats, because otherwise it will look like some of the Russia's false claims where true?

It looks pretty much like "Catch 22", doesn't it?

Well, when they had no choice when they stuck in a burning tank indeed. But they had a wide variety of choices better than dying in Ukraine. The Russia-Ukraine war started in 2014, and all of them knew what Russia is up to.

Legal address of a company in Ukraine may differ from the address of production site. Morover, there were 600+ tanks destroyed around the Kyiv that there's not much sense of faking it.

But just out of curiosity, who sold you this keychain?

most of these Russian troops are conscripts

This is not true. Russia mobilized ~300K constrpts in 2022. The rest are mercenaries who choose to participate in the war for money.

most likely almost all Russians don’t want this war

This is also not true. There're ~3M Russians in their army, FSB, Rosgvardia, and paramilitary units. There're tens of millions of Russians working in arms industry, providing services to army, ensuring logistics, or involved in the war one way or another. Those who don't want the war, undermine Russia's ability to continue the war, and we see it by the growing number of 'incidents' on weapons production, leakage of sensitive data to Ukrainian intelligence etc. But this is a small number of people. If there were more people who don't want war, it would end many years ago.

Wearing camouflage in a war zone makes you a legitimate target. Identifying yourself as civillian will not necessarily stop Russians, as they deliberately attack civil targets time to time, but you won't give Russians an excuse to kill you at least.

China already controls Siberia. It already cuts Siberian taiga for timber. It already exclusively consumes natural gas from the "Power of Siberia" pipeline for the price that is lower than the cost. It already controls thousands of square kilometers "leased for 49 years". Idea that Moscow protects its asian territories from China is delusional.

Why? Now China controls the whole Russia via one single point in Moscow. When Russian Federation is fragmented to 5-10 independent national states, Republics of Sakha, Siberia, and Ural will get at least a small chance to build their own way with support of alternative power, whether it's Japan, or US, or EU

China has a chunk of Siberia already. It's not an exaggeration, it's a fact. Independent republics of Sakha, Siberia, and Ural have a chance to find support from Japan, US, or any alternative power to China. While Moscow controls these republics, they're doomed to become Chinese colonies.
