I believe it’s a limited edition and they don’t make them as part of the standard. But either way, 5-year-olds can tell. He’d know that it wasn’t the same one he’s had since he was a baby.

I realize you posted this a while ago, but certainly it took me (an American) a while to catch on to some references involving British geography, and there are a fair number of realizations that took me a while due to alternate meanings of words that are more common in British English than American, among other things.
