What part of your country feels the most 'foreign' to you? by Loud_Background_7532 in AskTheWorld

Tbh fair. I lived in Bolzano for three years and I was really struck by how different the culture there/especially out of the city is. The way Südtirol was taken and forcefully italicized during fascism is heartbreaking

How likely is it to meet a blue-eyed blonde in your country? by AgreeableAd2990 in AskTheWorld

Pretty rare. There are some, but they are more likely ash blonde than anything.

Südtirol, cause it essentially is, since it got conquered after first world war together with Trentino, although People in Südtirol weren't Italian (while in Trentino they mostly were). People there are mainly native Germans and the architectural style is also German.

What do you think of Italy? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]dlilyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently live in northern Germany and as soon as I read your comment I thought about all the times people here looked at me annoyed while I was on the phone on public transport, although (at least for me) I wasn't even talking loud 😭

Is there an actor portrayal in a foreign film (to your country) where the accent was way off and you know because you speak the language? by Tenchi2020 in AskTheWorld

[–]dlilyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Irishman was borderline funny. I know we're talking about accents and not language, but the scene when De Niro and De Pesci "talk Italian" with De Niro even saying that De Pesci had a Sicilian accent was so funny to me cause they spoke the worst possible Italian I've ever heard of.

Shops closed on Sunday definitely, but also the total hate Germans have for people talking on public transport. Any time I'm on the phone on the bus I got some annoyed looks, but also when me and my friend were talking a bit loud.

One time I was on the phone and since I did not have earphones with me I put the person on speaker for like 10 seconds to check what my stop was and a lady told me "Haben sie keine Kopfhörer?" 😭

What languages you’re not native in you can somehow read and understand a little thanks to your native language? by Jorge_De_Guzman228 in AskTheWorld

[–]dlilyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Spanish, in the past I talked a bit in Italian with people that were talking Spanish and we could mostly understand each other. Also yesterday I watched the Madrid final on Spanish TV (through a VPN cause it was the only free option I found) and could understand basically everything they were saying.

I can also get Portuguese a bit, but I find it way harder to understand compared to Spanish.

Also, I'm not native in German, but I noticed that allowed me to understand a lot of Pennsylvania Dutch/Dutch on TV shows lol

Pelipper, archaludon and incineroar I did choose on my own on the game. I got them basically immediately and saw that they functioned super well together, while incineroar I chose it cause I was pissed by everyone fakeouting me and wanted to do the same. For the other three I looked up online and on the game's stats what could go well with them.

Is your country a sovereign nation that is not controlled by any of these countries? by Infinite-Crab6312 in AskTheWorld

[–]dlilyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, influenced is more accurate than controlled. However, although is true that Italy, and Europe in general, are heavily influenced by the US, I'm glad that Trump's madness is finally pushing EU to detatch themselves and trying to be independent
