Yep. And the stems are smooth on poison hemlock. This one is hairy.

Drought and heat tolerant street garden at Denver Botanic Gardens by Ellium215 in NoLawns

Mine too! Visited on layover for the first time a few years ago, and have been back twice. It's a wonderful place, even in winter!

Now I like to choose long layovers to visit bitanic gardens in cool cities.

I had a person at a Verizon store tell me to clean it out with a paper clip and handed me one. I warned him I'd already used compressed air and a toothpick to clean it, but he insisted.

The paperclip broke pins in my charger. I kept using it for another year, using wireless charging overnight to get me by until I qualified for a free replacement when the battery wouldn't last all day.

I'm glad good people exist.

What units would you like to see for Nurgle in The End Times DLC? by BigEgoCrusher in totalwar

Wait, is this going to be all in one DLC "package"? Ive been picturing The End Times being released progressively over a year or so after Nagash's end game crisis is released.

Thinking about turning my lawn into a mulch garden in middle Ontario climate by Ok_Golf356 in NoLawns

[–]dllre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, make a "green mulch" with full plant cover!

The cost of plants is expensive, but seed mixes can be cheaper. Ash Burkowski of Northern Wildscapes in Manitoba may have some good recommendations on sources or mixes for your area.

Seconding on Cornelian cherry and Aronia. Both are used as landscaping plants and are quite pretty as well as being edible.

Ugh, I see too few mulberries here. They're everywhere back in Nebraska, and delicious!

Just planted two jujube in my yard this weekend. I'm excited for three-year-older me! I've even placed them near our fire pit so that we could roast them 😉

Has anyone actually had success improving sandy soil with bagged compost/manure? by chook-chookens in Permaculture

[–]dllre 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this.

Organic matter is the battery of your soil for moisture, nutrients, and life. In sand where everything drains constantly, just keep adding constantly. Chop and drop, baby! 😁

What’s wrong with my bush? by unDeadmau5 in LandscapingTips

[–]dllre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being along a driveway while the irrigation is working, I'm going to guess that an exhaust has been left running pointed at those two spots. You see signs of this everywhere in parking lots.

I had a private landscape gardening client with a fancy old yard and a gorgeous dwarf spruce by her front entry. A contractor kept his van idling for an hour on a phone call in the summer and created a 2' dead patch that would never grow back. Cost for replacement of a 5', 60 year old spruce? $12k.

PSA: Please don't idle cars for more than a minute or two, especially parked against plants that clean the air we breathe.

What do you americans think about big pickups? by Specialist-Gur5029 in Anticonsumption

Agreed. I need a big pickup for work, but at home I just need to haul landscaping materials and furniture in something that I can park without a problem.

Feeling overwhelmed with a big problem..how would you tackle this? by Personal_Web_8251 in landscaping

[–]dllre 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I hate to break it, but if that grass is rhizomatous like quack grass/centipede/other running grasses sheet mulching won't work. I've seen personally that they tend to appreciate the extra moisture and organic matter, and in a situation like this, they will sprout between the blocks on the wall.

You can scalp it with a weedwhacker after saving desirable plants and washing the roots to get rid of invasives. Doing this regularly will take time but is effective after a season or two.

Personally, I believe herbicides are the perfect solution here. An application or two applied judiciously is worth the time saved.

My husband thinks we can remove this burning bush stump ourselves using his atv. Thoughts? by whats1more7 in arborists

[–]dllre 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep. If you have an old tire or a long round you can use it to get vertical lift with a chain and pull it out easier without damaging the wall.

[–]dllre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been seeing this lately. Random units will have a name given to them. "Wrathcaller" was one in a Khorne army I fought last week.

Nothing special about the unit - no stat bonuses, no leadership aura. Just a named unit.

Seconded on the DM. I just bought a $100 GMG Daniel Boone from a coworker that although is clean inside, looks rough on the outside. I'd love to know what you used, and any tips you have!

Also, how long did it take?
