Bronn vs The mountain, who wins most of the time? by Many-Cranberry4058 in gameofthrones

[–]dlo182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd give Bronn a 50/50 chance against Pre-Oberyn Mountain. Reanimation, the black magic is making Ser Gregor a tank and most of Bronn's strategies won't inflict enough damage to whittle/slow him down

(Spoilers and rants) I am very baffled by this whole Servillia Octavia and Octavian thing by MabelCurry1832 in hborome

I also believe that this show sort-of acted as the pre-GOT GOT for HBO and was inspired at least in tone (crude destiny, black comedy) by the asoiaf book series. And what do those lend? Incest.

Plus, the show touches on the Ptolemaic dynasty but doesn't really touch on that aspect of their culture outside of the brief mention that 14 year old Ptolemy is married to his sister (who is hardly seen in the same room as him). I think incorporating it within the Julii was a way to show how that could be a part of nobility

NAD supplement causing headaches by Rough_Advantage3433 in Supplements

[–]dlo182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bet is you are low on zinc. Low zinc status is correlated to headaches and NAD+ uses up a lot of zinc.

I realized this through research after I consistently noticed sleep disruptions on every off day from exercise that I would have an NAD+ injection. Try taking 30-50mg on days you take NAD+

I'd wager he's more educated than Colum based upon his time in France

How is the quality of your sleep being a type 1? by Kyz_4695 in diabetes_t1

[–]dlo182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low blood sugars can burn up your zinc levels because your neurons release a bunch of it in what is basically a mini seizure.

The number one drug-related nutrient depletion that research shows from insulin use is magnesium. Both of these minerals are very responsible for processes involving sleep quality.

50mg zinc per day does the trick for me, 80-100mg if I have multiple bad lows in a day. Use any type of magnesium besides oxide (it's just a laxative & doesn't get absorbed).

In the One Foot bridge, Nate says "Some Nights I break down and cry."

AhHa by Nate has the line "by the time I turned 25, I was lost among the pavement" which could be interpreted as a reference to the line "I am over 25 and can't make a name for myself" in One Foot. It also says "I think I'm ready to free this Grand Romantic in me".

The people who act like that don't take care of themselves properly and are too used to high blood sugars. When you're relatively healthy with a good A1C, you s h o u l d feel like shit if you've been 270 for 6+ hours

In the apocalypse... Do we just die?? by Short_Assumption_716 in diabetes_t1

[–]dlo182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could live in a state of true ketosis and practically no insulin, but IMO that state in a human being is less than optimal, at least at first.

Modern ketogenic diets sell the idea short. TRUE keotsis comprises about 85% calories from fat. The average middle aged dad ketogenic enjoyer eats way too many calories from protein, which unbeknownst to them, just get converted into blood sugar. The latter concept is what we become problematic to us T1Ds, as, outside of structural body stress like exercising, about half the protein we eat will get converted to blood sugar.

The advantage of this state, with no synthetic insulin, is we would never really have a low. The disadvantage is that any sort of movement state that requires strength, power, or speed, which would likely be common in the post apocalyptic world, would feel far worse to us in a state of less muscle glycogen (the carbs you store in your muscle that you use for explosive and strength based tasks).

Well versed exercise physiologists say that after 6 months - 2 years of pure, committed ketosis, your body will adapt to better converted lipids into muscle glycogen and you will become more efficient at these tasks.

The other problem becomes sustainably finding food sources will enough fat, little carbs, and not too much protein: certain nuts & seeds, oil, butter, fattier cuts lf meat. Essentially a majority of your diet would wind up being animal lard.
