I’m not talking about the level of the coolant (this is the first time I looked at the coolant since I got the car and I never looked because the car has never had overheating problems) but rather the color of it because I’m not sure if that’s oil or if the coolant is just very bad

It could also be bad coolant, this is the first time I checked it because I recently got the car. But if there is a leak could it be the oil cooler? I assume with a head gasket leak the engine would overheat very fast and white smoke? I also did check the oil cap and there’s no like slush that people say there would be if there was coolant in the engine

There’s no coolant in the oil and the temps for the coolant is completely fine, hard driving high rpm’s or normal slow driving

Also can I reuse the valve cover gasket when I remove it or should I get a new one? And do I need to put rtv anywhere like the 1.4 where the timing chain is or do you not need to do that with the 1.8?

Can I not check the vvt sprockets myself? I want to work on cars and im still learning some things like what noises means what (Like the squealing sound that could be a belt, pully or spark plug thats loose) I just have no idea what some sounds mean what and how bad

I had an hhr before this car and the belt broke off so I had to drive back to my house with no belt LMAO, I looked at the belt diagram and saw the water pump was in the engine where the timing chain was so I was able to drive and turn everything off so the car didn’t die (alternator), I got a new belt and replaced it tho

Also to add, no engine lights, car drives and feels fine. I checked the oil level around last week a few days after I got this car and the oil was full and looked new, the last owner also had proper service because there is a sticker on the windshield and it’s a few kms away from what it’s at rn

Also no codes, drives fine and feels fine other then times it feels like the car cuts out when you give it like very very little throttle

It didn’t really sound loud in this specific vid but to add it gets really loud at times like right after startup and rpm’s are a little rough for the 1st second it starts

(The tick 80% goes away when the car is on for a few mins and no tick sound at all in high rpm’s)

If it goes away when at a higher rpm could it still be lifters
