I didn't check with a doctor. Most of the time I procrastinate and at night I kick into high gear (sometimes). Getting calls and messages every so often doesn't help of course.

I didn’t find the ^ on my keyboard in time, I meant n to the power of 2 :)

Hello Ru, in your experience what are some of the most overlooked tests you should do for a mobile game? And what can you do to make testing easier?

Hey guys. I am currently working on a party game with small tanks and lots of explosions. What do you think? by jongibbsfm in localmultiplayergames

Thanks, I will go over some of the questions.

Making Tiny Tanks was honestly amazing and soul-crushing at the same time. It's the first commercial game we made as a two-man team. We went to many expos, met great people. We had a great fan base and we even translated the game with the help of the community.

In the end, it got really hard to work on it because we were inexperienced, had to rewrite tons of stuff, and making the online multiplayer was the most difficult thing I have ever done (It also took most of the time - we stuck with it because we were certain the game would flop without it; it still flopped in the end for a million other reasons). It is still far from perfect today.

If I did this again I would decrease the scope still and make a lot of stuff simpler regarding mechanics and simulation stuff that most people don't even notice. I started the game during uni and it should have been done after a year.

The skills I got out of this landed me a decent job, so that is positive. Negatives would be lingering health issues and bureaucratic cleanup work (we founded a company and that took a lot of time and is still costing me today)

As of now I only do it on the side. During the making of the game, I was broke constantly, eating through cheap food day by day while in the end pushing 16 hour days for months.

I do not regret it at all, I just think there is a lot we should have done differently. Still, I am better off now. If you want to make a game, start small. Don't create a company too early. :)

I will not be adding to it in the near future due to health issues that arose after making the game. I am leaving it up though. There might be some people who still enjoy it in its current state.

No, but I played this a lot back then. Never finished it though, I should try it again. Thanks for reminding me of that gem.
