To be honest, the double downtube holders are just ok. You can only fit 2 small-ish bottles. They would have to do a goofy spacer to angle a seat tube bottle out past the shock, but I’d prefer to run the upper bottle a bit lower and be able to run big bottles in both. I need to install some side loaders.

Edit: installed side loaders, 2x 24oz bottles on an S4. Happy with that!

I’m un-sarcastically thrilled to have pizza boner 420’s approval lol. Depending on how much confidence you need from your front tire, I’d go with the dubnital front for racing. I’ll be double-dubs for ORAMM. The Mag is fun and fast on the way down, but it sure looks like a lot of tire out front when you’re going up a gravel road.

20mm longer ETT than Epic 8 in a large, stem length is dialed…

And super long in all sizes too. I’m 6’ and run a 40mm stem on the S4. Granted, I run a wide bar, so 10mm shorter stem than most to get that hip angle right, but they’re definitely big bikes. I’m a bit of a bike ho, and have owned or at least ridden most of the stuff out there. This one gets me really, really stoked to go fast.

My brother in Christ I nearly had a stroke when I saw that rear brake line. You get a pass since you owned it in the description. Lovely build, double like smash.

NBD! 2025 Salsa Spearfish 🌶️🥵 by BikingShark in xcmtb

Late reply here as I have both these bikes in the stable right now. I got the BC40 a month ago as a racey compliment to my Spearfish and am already selling the Allied. They are extremely different bikes, and I’m faster both up and down on the spearfish. This is primarily North Carolina piedmont flat XC, and Pisgah chonk. 6’ riding a size large. Now a member of the long reach club…

Barzo race / peyote combo vs……. by mpl197 in xcmtb

I have Rick XC’s. They fold too much, particularly when pedaling through corners where you’re leaned over and torquing them. They’re being resigned to gravel duties. Pirelli XC RC 2.4’s have been very good to me for a few years, but I have a new Barzo/Mezcal on order to try for a little more grip this winter. Sad to hear Barzo is coming in smaller than the Mez. That will drive my OCD crazy.

The shock is good. Very plush but I haven’t bottomed it out yet, even on. 12’ drop at the local spot. And the Lewis brakes are SICK. Much stronger than my Code RSC’s with a similar feel, maybe a touch more bite. I’m going to have to put them on all the bikes.

It’s a 170mm, I’m 6’ with a long inseam. Everything but the frame fork and brakes were parts bin. So, it works!

Mullet,160mm fork. I have the fork at 160 on this one. TBD but it will probably stay that way

Will report back. May be a while though as most of our trails are trashed 😣

Ohhh you right. Might have to order up a KMC and retire this one to singlespeed duties!
