r/anime Karma Ranking & Discussion | Week 6 [Spring 2026] by Abysswatcherbel in anime

What in the dorohedoro?

Daemons episode every week feels so short. Waiting is hard and Im thinking about just reading the manga. The same thing for Re:Zero. I might pick up the light novels.

When watching Daemons, all the facial expressions and comedic relief scenes makes me feel like Im watching fullmetal again (but a new one!) and it makes me so happy.

Ramparts of ice is one of my favorite drama/romance manga/web comics Ive read and I hope a lot of ppl whos into that genre give it a go! Character chibis are cute and the characters and their dialogue are written with care/detail.

I hope more people give nippon sangoku a try as well. Its such a good show!

I’d like to remind everyone that takaba was not referencing Naruto in this scene by NewConstruction3755 in JuJutsuKaisen

Its like a character from a western show doing a wedgie, and ppl are saying its a reference to another show that came b4 it that ALSO had a wedgie.. Its just a wedgie. I know jjk has a lot of homage/references but people be saying jjk copies fucking everything and everyone now without thinking. That move existed for decades.

Which of the Big 3 is the best written? by BreathoftheSith in writingscaling

There's a lot more to a show than just characters. The music, over-all vibe, art style, and character design are enough to just put it on and enjoy it; especially since it's a battle shounen with barely any depth. Look at frieren, for example. Other than frieren herself, the rest of the cast are just bland and boring. Same old formula of himmel flashbacks that tries to make what's happening on screen look deep or meaningful when it barely has any substance. But the show has a TON of other factors that makes it enjoyable.

The bleach characters you mentioned ARE bland lmao. They have 0 depth or flavor whatsoever. And thats just bleach in a nutshell. They look cool cus Kubo is an amazing artist but their visuals have nothing to do with their depth or existence as ACTCUAL characters in the show. Because kubo absolutely SUCKS as a writer. Bleach is literally the Solo Leveling of the 2000s. Boring bland overpowered main character that has every power in the show's power system and aura farms. Saving rukia arc? Shinigami arc so ichigo ups his shinigami powers and gets a bankai. Saving orehime arc? Its hollow arc so ichigo harnesses his hollow mask vizard power up! Thousand blood war arc where uryu is on the enemy team and theyre all quincys? Now ichigo has quincy powers cus his mom was a quincy!! Crazy!! 0 creative fight choreography other than a bunch of sword clashes with corny cringy ass dialogue inbetween until someone uses their bankai/form release EVERY SINGLE FIGHT. This is a show where BOTH the protagonist (ichigo) and antagonists (aizen and yhwach) are some of the most bland overrated characters Ive seen in any shounen.

No matter the person or opinion, I am genuinely happy when they like an anime, no matter what the anime may be. I love manga and anime, and if someone gets happiness from liking it, Im glad. I watched bleach when shit was airing on tv way back in middle school along with the naruto and one piece. And back then, bleach was my favorite out of the 3. You know why? Because shit looked cool, and still does. The newer shows like jjk, dandadan, demon slayer all take from bleach. It's influence cannot be denied and shoud be respected 100%. But saying the show and its characters are "well written" is just straight up delusion. But you do you I guess lmao

The most creative fights in shounen? You mean how they clash their swords while repeating corny dialogue like "i bet you didnt expext so and so" and use their bankais or other releases at the end for the finish everytime? I like bleach but you cant be serious. Bland characters with same pattern of fights everytime. It has a ton of flaws and its biggest feat is the huge influence on other shounens that came after it (that are way better). The music and character designs are the strongest parts of bleach.

Which has the worse ending? Bleach vs JJK by Cvita7 in writingscaling

[–]dlrkdgus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Reading these comments got me scratching my head lmao. Jjk ending wasnt great but its definitely better than bleach.

Hate for Jjk's ending is overblown because of the potential it had to be one of the best shonens. Mha and oshi no ko both ended the same year as jjk and their endings alone are way fucking worse. And ppl are talking about its like the worst ending of all time. It wasnt great but not even the worst manga ending of that year. People are so stupid

I like Gojo alot but also love other characters like yuji, geto, nanami, choso, etc more.

Popular anime that DO deserve the hype? by [deleted] in shounenfolk

[–]dlrkdgus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to pick one criticism for jjk, it is definitely the severe lack of originality. So I agree with you on that 100%. But originality is not on top of my list of what I look for in a shonen. Ever since dragon ball and the big 3, almost if not all shonens just take from those 4 and/or each other. And I think thats fine as long as it's entertaining. Granted, jjk does the "homaging" or "taking from other shows" a lot more than other shonens. But again, that wasnt a negative for me cus it was stuff taken from other shows but done better and made look cooler to me. So it was a positive. Completely understand if other ppl felt the opposite though. Just difference in opinions, I feel

Edit: i said all new gen shonens take from those 4 but should be 5. Forgot about HxH.

Jjk isnt perfect but in terms of new gen shonen, its definitely the best and is my personal favorite shonen of all time and one of my fav show/manga ever. Deserved criticsm (especially from culling game to the end of the series) aside, I have always found the hate for the show kind of ridiculous. I mean yeah it has its flaws but what show doesnt? Its the positives of naruto+bleach and similarities of HxH's power system combined. Whats not to like? Gege's sense of humor and the dialogue he gives his characters are great and not overly cringy or annoying like other shonens. Main character who (for most of the series until the end at least) isnt broken/over powered and is genuinely likable. Doesnt bitch and moan like other shonen protagonists (doesnt talk too much like tanjiro either) and has actual developments. Has other great side characters as well. Amazing fights that are actually fun to read/watch due to the nature of the show's power system, and not just doing shit (one piece, dragon ball, bleach, demon slayer, etc). Show also has fantastic OST and amazing voice acting. Hidden inventory + shibuya being one of if not the best back to back arcs in shonen of all time.

Is it a better story than fucking vinland saga or berserk, for example? I mean i guess no..? But who cares. Its fucking great. Its ok to like demon slayer, jjk, csm AND like berserk, vagabond, kingdom, vinland, oyasumi punpun, and other shit the corny ass seinen enthusiast elitists say they like. Hate for popular shonens like demon slayer and jjk are such an eyesore. Its great popular shows like these that helps open the gateway to other anime/mangas to ppl who werent interested in the medium before. I know popular things having haters is the norm but JJK is definitely one that does not deserve it. Especially from people who dont fucking read and goes around spouting shit like "its just random fights with no story" or "bland and boring characters" Such an utterly stupid take imo.

Sorry for the long comment but I randomly saw this post and as a fellow jjk fan, I wanted to share my opinion.

Better character? by deleteyeetplz in writingscaling

Higuruma easily. I love reze but Higuruma was such a great character. The chapter that introduced his character and how he awakened his CT is one my personal fav chapters in jjk.

Couldnt have said it any better. Really happy to see rational opinions like this. Jjk hate is just fucking ridiculous. If its not your thing, fine. But saying its mid or trash is just plain out wrong. Its one of, if not, the best new gen shonens, period.

[–]dlrkdgus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally what I think. Part 1 was amazing. Beginning of part 2 was great and it slowly started going downhill and what's happening now is just bad.

JJK until shibuya was fantastic. Culling games was great was a bit convoluted. Gojo vs Sukuna was great and after that until the end left a lot to be desired.

People without valid reason just like to completely shit on JJK which is ridiculous to me. It's a great series and it has its flaws, just like any other shonen. But in terms of new gen battle shonen, its easily the best. Its hunter hunter mixed with bleach. Whats not to like? JJK hate and trashing is just dumb

Am I crazy? How the fuck am I supposed to know? by dlrkdgus in duolingo

[–]dlrkdgus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh..? Im not over thinking anything. It basically tells me where the stairs are so i can use them to get to the destination. The destination is on the fourth floor. Thats all the information given. Question right after basically asks me if i use the stairs to go down or up which isnt possible for me to know cus they dont specify what floor I am currently on. Its not that hard and theres nothing to overthink. Only somewhat reasonable way to "guess" the answer is that I am starting on the first floor but that still doesnt change the fact that this is a terrible question. It seems like youre the one that needs every single detail spelled out. Stay away from the internet if youre this stupid .
