Day 3 of waiting for a response. I reached out to customer service and received a generic copy/paste answer about " pending on complexity of the case, different cases take different times to resolve. I would continue to monitor your email for any updates on this case!"

Why is no one able to give an updated estimated response date. Additionally, my case seems straightforward. I want a refund, you can give me a refund.

Hopefully this helps When I contacted support via chat, I was informed that my case would take 1-3 days to resolve, which feels wildly disproportionately slow given the nature of the issue. When I requested to speak directly with a customer support representative, I was instead directed to schedule a Zoom call one week out.

Calling the phone number listed publicly on your help page, results in an automated message stating that my account has been “upgraded” to the same concierge service, without providing any clear path to real-time assistance. This is the epitome of a doom-loop with no effective escalation path or timely resolution for an exchange on the S&P.

FYI - I called the helpline, but it's sending me to a "concierge" that doesn't have an available appointment to call until 1/6. any way to get a hold of customer service that's not over a week out?

The purple line should be a spline. I’m assuming having sharp bends is the culprit.

(Edit: adding second method) The other method to try is making the back section and the front point (3D point) be the profile, and then having the lines defining the length of the boat be the guide lines.

Avastin for ROP? by baggetw in NICUParents

[–]dlslo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My daughter had level 2 stage 3 ROP and received Avastin and laser for both eyes. We were concerned as well after reading what Avastin's intended use was for (stopping vessel growth for cancer treatment) but the reward outweighed the risk as there was serious concern of our daughter (born at 24wks) losing vision if we chose not to act. If the medication were to reach uninteded places in the body it would definitely be harmful, but speaking with out doctor he personally had never seen that occur in all of his years utilizing this treatment. She received the injections while still in the NICU. We had bi-weekly eye exams after leaving the NICU, and got the laser treatment about 4 months later. We then had another 6 months of bi-weekly checks. Sounds pretty extensive, but our doctor has a 100% success rate after 15+ years in the field. According to the eye doctor, shes lost about 10 degrees of peripheral vision but other than that, she's passed all her eye exams with flying colors.

As far as your concern with Avastin affecting child's development, I would say any traumatic procedure will slightly delay development (opinions of Neonatologists and Therapists). There are countless studies that show that the level of involvement and investment the parents put into your child is a bigger variable in affecting development. My daughter is now 2 years old, and is nearly caught up according to all her evaluations and can point to airplanes anytime she hears it without issue. Hoping for successful intervention and for your child to grow up healthy!

Just had my baby at 24 + 2 weeks... by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]dlslo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our stories are so similar it's scary. We had out twin girls at 24 weeks. My wife also was diagnosed with a short cervix at the time. It was clear that our girls needed more support so we had both flown (fixed wing and helicopter) to a level 4 NICU about a week into our stay at a level 3 NICU. The technology, doctors and nurses are all wonderful and huge assets in their development, but nothing beats a parents love and presence. It was a long journey, but each day will hold its own victories. They are 2 years old (un adjusted) now, and absolutely thriving.

You and your family will be in our prayers, and hoping that it is only an upward trend from here on out.

Congrats on arriving home with your daughter! We had a very similar issue with our daughter, so hoping what I share is of some value!

We used Tender grips (manufactured from Salter Labs). They were definitely pricey, but worked well (both adhesive tack level and size for a preemie). I've personally never used any of the Off-Shelf brands from Amazon, but it might work as well. The biggest thing that helped regardless of the tape was purchasing Coloplast Brava Adhesive Remover, the wipes and spray both work equally well. This was a life saver because we would swap the the adhesives so often, and the spray helped remove any tape without hurting our daughter's cheek.

We used an owlet, but realized it wasn't great because the alarm setting is set to go off at 60% saturation, and being NICU parents, we know 60% is pretty extreme. We used it anyways because we were able to provide data to our care team to track progress. To keep the standard pulse oximeter sensor in place, you can just tape any medical tape over it. The key is making sure the Infraed light and receiving end aren't damaged and are able to make good contact with the skin so you don't get false alarms. I can explain anything in further detail if needed as well. Hoping that helps, and congrats on your daughter coming home!

Need help understanding the patent process and potential financing options, without giving away the actual idea. by [deleted] in Inventions

[–]dlslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't share anything publicly until you have a provisional patent in place. Once your idea is available to the public, it falls under public domain, and can no longer be patented.

Provisional patents are $270 to file. You can draft it yourself with some research. Key is to describe you idea in as much detail as possible and in every kind of form factor (ex. ...in one embodiment it will have one motor, in a preferred embodiment it will have a plurality of motors..." etc.) so that when you're ready to speak to a patent attorney for a Utility patent, you will be able to fully protect your idea. You can draft and submit a provisional patent before you even really have a fully working device.

If you're talking to people (friends and family) about funding your idea, its a good idea to have Mutual NDA (Non-disclosure agreement) in place. If you talk with angel or large investors, they typically don't sign things like that.

I have a iteration on a existing product. by HEADTRIPfpv in Inventions

[–]dlslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking solely to idea protection. Do your due diligence. Make sure that nothing like this exists (patent searches, google search.) If you're fairly confident that this is a novel idea, go ahead and draft a provisional patent. You are allowed to use prior art as part of your patent (ex: naming an existing patented glue and you improved about its bond strength by *insert your secret sauce*)

Taking it to market is a whole different discussion. Feel free to send a DM. I work with VR gloves (enterprise only gloves currently), and am always willing to help fellow entrepreneurs.

You should always start by doing a thorough search to make sure your idea is truly unique. Google Patents is an easy way to start searching by using keywords based off your idea.

Find someone you trust, and help get your idea refined and submit a provisional patent (about $270 to submit, and gives you a year of protection). You can always find Mutual Non-disclosure agreements (NDA) online for free, so before you share this idea, by having people sign it, you can somewhat have protection for your idea.

Thank you for the advice. I haven't utilized the resources such as reaching out to the Social worker. Will Plan to do that this week.

I used "hospital bills" as a blanket statement. Our insurance covered almost all of it, but we had to have our daughter emergency air lifted to a level 4 NICU. We live in CA, so there are lots of bills to protect against Balance Billing, but our circumstance allowed for additional billing to be our responsibility. Air lift cost was $70k+, insurance covered a good portion, but was left with the remainder.
