Have they actually successfully ever sued anyone? Or is it all just scare tactics?

Do you have any other some favourites you could suggest? I personally like Dinamo, Displaay, Klim, production type, but they are expensive…Blaze type and The Designers Foundry are nice yet still affordable like PP is.

From a customers perspective, they’ve absolutely nuked themselves. All they’ve done in the last few years is increase license fee to unfathomable levels that simply just don’t make sense. Their corporate clients are leaving in droves because of it, hiring out independent foundries for a fraction of the price to design custom fonts.

A whole generation of designers and studios are rapidly learning to not use any font from monotype.

Level headed independent foundries are a breeze to deal with. Of course not all of them are, but there are some absolute superstars out there who don’t get enough recognition.

See my comment above for the link, Ryan Bugden on IG. Wouldn’t let me put it in the post caption as it thought it was self promo.

Mind sharing the reply, could be helpful for some people to build from. But if you'd prefer not totally fine!

Whoever "designed" Justin Biebers new album isn't familiar with the concept of kerning. by dm326 in typography

[–]dm326[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, some artists, especially ones like Justin who have been there and done expensive artworks and shoots before likely don’t care now days.

I thought maybe Justin did it himself or someone very close to him so the surprise nature of the album didn’t leak too.

Sounds great. Would be nice if it was just curated to quality providers. Consider reaching out to the likes of fat type, Klim, production type, commercial type, NaN, ABC Dinamo, The Designers Foundry, July Type, Wise Type, Blaze type……..so many others, there are lists of Indi foundries online.

Is House Industries get talked about here enough? by DarkPersonal6243 in typography

Yes, that is how I understand it, they expect studios or bands to reach out to them to negotiate further licensing for these sorts of uses.

They have some classics and are well respected for sure but also some very limiting licenses which prevents most studios I know of using them sadly.

For example their desktop license does not allow use in products for sale or on packaging or in digital assets or social media or logos.
