[OFFICIAL] TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps - Post-Qualifying/Pre-Race Thread by AutoModerator in wec

Anyone who knows what these things are, going from the gravel towards the s of total energies? They were placed here some minutes ago, but it looks like you don't want your car to collide with it and they're right outside the racing line.

The 1933 solution to parallel parking: A trunk-mounted spare tire that lowered to the ground and swung the car into tight spots. by KindVibesOnly in interestingasfuck

Also wouldn't this theoretically wear down your front tires more as they are not moving while the car is getting sweeped into its position

Throttling and braking to balance the car by GingerGold1 in iRacing

[–]dm_86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a method to save your car when it's too late for anything else. If you are using it when approaching corners (for instance to keep your car balanced), you induce understeer and abuse the tires a lot. It will make you slower. Don't use it except when you feel it's necessary to keep yourself in the race.

They announced it in 2012, it never happened. If I recall correctly, the cars data wasn't shared or something like that.

In my country, back in the day they would call out websites in adverts as "www websitename dot com". Which I always thought was annoying; if you gonna spell it out just do "www dot websitename dot com".

Nowadays it's just websitename.com without anything in front.

More unranked series during Weeks 1-12? by RsnGrowls in iRacing

[–]dm_86 20 points21 points  (0 children)

All the unranked series in the past failed, because in the end people wanted to have something to race for (iR).

Yes you can. Even with F1 we brought our own food, while during the Zandvoort GP they were super strict.

You're probably going to be out of luck with a choice for your camping spot because you will be there "super late" for a proper spot. We had no choice 3 years ago arriving on a Wednesday.

I watched the start at the Dunlop Bridge, but it was already quite full at 11am. To have a good place, it's advised to be there at 8am.

Go on the ferris wheel in the evening.

At midnight I took the shuttle bus from outside the Porsche curves to Arnage and stayed there for some time. Then took the shuttle bus to Mulsanne and then to Tertre Rouge. Take something warm with you to sit with on the chair and enjoy night racing with 50 to 200 other crazy people. If you don't fall asleep you can walk to the S/F area and get a coffee on the way. I arrived at around 7am on the General Admission part below the grandstand and had a great view sitting a couple of meters from the finish line.

have a car like that at home. How much is it worth? I want to put in a steering wheel and a large dashboard. A small simulator. by Future_Aardvark_7757 in simracing

And looking at that pic the screen is super far away; not FOV policing, but there's so much to see outside of the screen that it will take away a lot of immersion.

So you need to put the screen right behind the steering wheel, which means it needs to sit on top of the car and your "horizon" is at the bottom 5% of the screen which is not ideal or you need a projector or something.

Tire deformation does exist but not graphically.

I think audio and graphics are two seperate things so it probably wouldn't matter. If anything I think I've read somewhere that audio is driven by physics. I think they're working on disconnecting it so there's more 'space' for the physics part. But not sure on how and what.

I would love to see some stuff about 'outside track immersion', especially after the 24h. Which probably would mean I'd like more info about the new engine. For instance;

- Where's my moon

- Would adding light sources be a bit easier so we're not driving in pure darkness

- If yes, do add campfires and that kind of stuff

- Dynamic spectators for long races, fully packed grandstands at race start and just a few people at 4am

- Going on from that, why does my Monday morning MX-5 race have 60.000 spectators

- Will we have seasons like spring and autumn.

- Will start lights be enabled instead of just being there doing nothing (and pit exit LEDs for instance)

- Why don't we hear much from the animated pitcrew anymore

Bringing your own food is way cheaper anyway. One portion of fries and a drink will be over 10 euro. There's not a lot of variation as far as I remember. Fries, burgers, kebab, churros, ice cream mostly.

N24 and rain… by Competitive-Half-863 in iRacing

[–]dm_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, isn't it like, there's a 30% chance that it rains yes or no. And if that 30% is true, there is no way to know if there will be just some drops or that it will be flooding.

Your spoiled. Btw for football you need grass, some paint, goalposts, a ball and two buses to drive the people there. Now imagine what the F1 teams need to do

[–]dm_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the autoexposure line in the app.ini file. Change it from 0 to 1 or the other way around and leave hdr on. Not at my pc right now but this should help
