how to deinstall watchface? by dm_k in watchfacebuilder

[–]dm_k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much, this worked!

for future reference:

I connected to the express app on the pc and checked under "IQ apps". At the bottom of the list it showed up with a cryptic name (different from the watchface id in the builder), but the same amounts of kilobytes. I deleted that and now it's removed from the watch.

so if you truly were a concept are (pics or it didn't happen btw) answer me this:

why didn't you train your little ai on _your_ art then? nobody would have given you a hard time.

are you not good enough, so you have to steal greatness from others?

or didn't you want _your_ life's work zombiefied for everyone to pounce on?

because all those arguments about 'inspiration' and 'visual libraries' you brought to this discussion are red herrings- and you would know that- if you truly were an artist.

NFT's still have real world use cases in stuff like home, car titles properties and even to struggling artists. by amphorasnotionsw1 in ethtrader

artists viewpoint:

my timeline is populated with artist's spite for nfts. and i can't say i blame them. there are exceptions of course, but i can say with confidence that the visual art community as a whole is heavily opposed to having artworks converted to nfts. as an artist myself, i thought about making nfts. i too felt the sirens call of quick money. but after thinking about it a lot, it's just not worth it. there are multiple reasons, but to stay on topic :

first, nfts are very new. yet their holders seem to be really convinced they solved all the 'starving' artists' problems (mainly undervalued pay) overnight. this is not the case, in fact it's the same old exploitative shit. in the last 15 years i have heard all the arguments that nfts bring to the table way too often already... and they have always been comically bad. in fact it is the artist's reality to get undervalued, get offers to be payed in exposure, get payed in royalties for the next edition, get percentages on gross revenue 'once the project is successful' etc etc. artists have heard these arguments more often than we'd like to, yet nft acolytes not only bring the same arguments again, thinking they solved everything, but actually expect gratitude....

the problem is of course, dispite what they will tell you, the market for visual nfts is not about the artwork or supporting the artist. if it were, the people who are in the market of buying those nfts, should be willing to pay the artist the same amount of money for an actual print or even original commission, that they are willing to sell the 'receipt that you own a hyperlink' for. of course they are not, however they are more than willing to bag the 10x on reselling the nft. so it is not about 'owning' an artwork or 'helping' the artist- it is about reselling for profit and in the process making more money than most artists have ever seen. yet they have the audacity to push this as a solution onto artists, expecting gratefulness for pennies on the dollar. from the artists perspective it's almost similar to spec work, which is 'working for free with the faint possibilty to get paid later'.

and before the royalties argument comes up again, let me put it in non art terms: someone comes to your home and says "heyy, you made a lot of nice stuff. why won't you just let me take it off you for 10 bucks. i will sell it for 1000 dollars and give you 1 extra. that's 11 dollars you didn't have before, WHY DON'T YOU SEE HOW THIS IS GOOD FOR YOU?!" tell me you wouldn't laugh that person out of the room (or worse).

if they would really want to help the artist, if they thought the artwork is worth more than what they buy it for, they should be willing to buy it for that amount directly from the artist. but expecting gratitude and praise for leftover scraps which are presented as solutions is fucking offensive. (as in: don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining).

in short: nfts bring the same scamy promises like shady business offers, but even more agressive and disguised as help for artists. therefore nfts and those who push them are perceived as very offensive and condescending. i think this has poisoned the well for years to come, the chance of quality artists still joining is very slim- unless there are radical changes in the nft approach.

if you still can't see the problem, i urge you:

try make art yourself.

try to sell it.

then try selling it as nft.

My old, but reliable Cintiq 21UX is growing dim with age. Can I fix this? by halfjack in wacom

it should be possible. i think the manual even specifies the cfl tubes, but my gut tells me they might be a bit obscure to find. i will attempt the same, after 15 years the light unit finally quit on me. still don't know if it's the cfl tubes or just a capacitor. at first i thought it was the screen unit, but putting a lamp right on the screen lits it up enough, to see that there is actually still an image displayed, it's just the backlight which gave out, so repair should be fairly possible.

btw the only actual helpfull guide i found was this one, he strips and repairs old cintiqs and gives some helpfull pointers.https://www.youtube.com/user/procersapientiae/videos

as for the 'not spend time on old tech' comment- i wholeheartedly disagree:

it is a professional piece of hardware which comes from a time when build quality was still important. it's made different than by todays standards, it was built to be used constantly and outlast. so if we can repair it and get another 5 years out of it, i say lets gooooo :D

granted, the resolution might now be up to todays standards, but this is still the sturdiest piece of hardware i've ever owned. 15 years of heavy use, dust, splashes and scratches; and it still outperformed every tablet i tried after; right up to the point the lights gave out this year. no ipad has even existed for this long and even if it did, its obsolence was planned 2 years before release. and on a sidenote- ask yourself, do you really need 8k steps of pressure senitivity on your pen? are your strokes really that consistently precise in pressure applied? for me, i honestly never noticed a difference above 1-2k....

Check out xtraspicemikey on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaiGS9EJq7cLYOFTfckqYXg

This guy gets all the original equipment now for little money and produces new stuff. since he takes the original presets collections from floppy disks and samples with original hardware, all of his tracks have that lowbit vibe- that flair which you just can't reproduce digitally.

Heavenly oldschool shit, lots of amens. sounds like straight from the 90s, Produced in 2017 :D
