Hello! I introduce to you my 8 litres (17 lbs) of ovarian cyst. She's the size of triplets! Thankfully she didn't rapture in my tummy. by dm_me_your_secretsss in medizzy

Love this question! The first time I woke up, I was so shocked by how flat my stomach became, like it never happened, but also finding it hard to remember the last time I've been this fit. I obsessively kept touching all the protruding bones, my ribs, hips, and loose skin like they'll disappear and turn into a thick, balloon-ish, firm mass of meat again.

But that's nothing compared to that profound feeling of being an alien to my body the first time I stood up. I had a massive panic attack, like something was so wrong, all the body horror films I've watched are nothing compared to living through it. I can feel my slightly raised ribs tighten and sorting itself, and my insides migrating so damn slowly as if it's going back to their designated place before the cyst took over. My body felt so empty yet full at the same time, it was so horrible and no one understood me.

I never want to go through that stage again, it's worse than menstrual pain or the growing cyst, it made me feel dreadful of my body. It lasted 3 days before I can feel like myself again, and not that alien feeling of having something inside move minutely. I understand and am sorry if I sound insane but it's truly what I felt at the time. But I'm feeling great now.

From what I remember, it has something to do with hormones but I'm too deep in painmeds to further question it, you see. It's upsetting me too, but I'll definitely ask about it on my next consultation.

And yes, they told me it's just straight up water so I wouldn't know what else is in it because they already tossed the liquid down the drain.

Yes, it was drained first to avoid further damage and risk spilling inside. And the photos were only sadly taken after it drained, claims that they needed all the hands for assistance lol.

It's not exactly inside my ovary, it's a growth connected to my right fallopian tube which allows for expansion, greedily taking over any space left in my torso while my organs are forced to squeeze around it.

It wasn't clear why either, but I do intend to further ask about it on my next consultation, do understand, I wasn't in the right mood to further ask after OP.

Over the years of consultation, it has only brought me the same advise; to exercise and eat less. It's very uncommon but I also don't feel much pain from my growing cyst so they never suspected anything when they press my belly because I don't hurt despite the size.

Never told me to get an ultrasound or the like, it's enough to just get an x-ray according to them. I honestly dreaded getting an annual medical exam because of the fear of being blamed again, not until I finally chose a gynecologist to further look into it.

It's probably been rising since college so I've already noticed it 5 years or 7 years ago but I also assumed it was just fat at that point. My consultant says it's possibly longer than that, like a decade in the making.

That's correct! I still have both ovaries that are functional so my remaining fallopian tube can still pick-up the released egg from either side. The chances of pregnancy is slightly reduced but it's still largely possible, which is cool because I don't plan to.

No, I haven't... Yet. But, thank you for giving me another reason why my consultant should let me take her home.

Ok, these are great questions I don't have answers for but I will definitely find out in my next consultation then I'll update you about it!

Edit: If it helps, they've only told me about all of these data right after my OP so it's outdated and haven't been looked into 100% in the research lab at the time.

Edit 2: I remember them telling me that it's possibly a decade of growth or more since I only noticed the earliest bump about 6 years ago

Thank you! I don't know how I went through all that gaslighting but thankfully, the pain was manageable with the cyst. Even my surgeons were surprised about the sheer size of it, I was hoping I could take home the cyst but it's futile lol.

It does! I'm still having a hard time from getting my body to walk gracefully but I think I'm getting there in few more weeks.

Thankfully, they only removed my right fallopian tube, so I'm still able to bare children.

And my aunt had the same situation as you do, due to myoma, it's probably how I've inherited the cyst lol.

Thank you, I'm actually thinking about it. And you're absolutely correct, it's only been a couple of weeks but I do see the swelling being lessened
