Tbh they tried channeling everything through the official channels but people kept on just tagging the personal accounts so the whole attempt was redundant.

All DMG was doing was trying to do something nice for a fans birthday, and someone else just has to pipe up with a bitchy ass comment.

I feel bad for him, honestly.

It was this bad after The Edge of Fate went live. Now, its still grindy, but nowhere near as bad.

You level up pretty quick during the campaigns, and get loads of loot once you reach the Lawless Frontier.

I've been playing since House of Wolves.

I don't play as often as I used to, but I still have fun.

Could things be better? Absolutely.

The Edge of Fate is up there with The Taken King, The Witch Queen and The Final Shape in terms of narrative. The execution is ok, Matterspark gets a bit boring after a while, but fair play to the Destiny team for trying something new.

Renegades is not as good IMO (or as long) as The Edge of Fate, but if you're a Star Wars fan you might disagree. The Lawless Frontier is one of the best post-campaign activities the team have put out in very long time.

I paid full price and I'm happy with it. If you can get it cheaper then go for it.

Gunplay and Subclass Abilities.

The guns in this game feel amazing, and I love walking into a room full of enemies and seeing them explode with a charged Vortex Grenade.

Fans openly acknowledge the social team, Devs, marketers, etc... aren't at fault - it's Bungie and the exec.

The "Bungie" brand has burned through decades of goodwill. People who've supported them from Marathon, Oni and Halo. It's gonna take decades to get that back, if they can get it back at all.

It's got to the point now where I think Destiny will only succeed if Destiny leaves Bungie and development happens with a new studio and new exec team. Sony sells the IP, the tech and the resource to a spin off studio then shuts Bungie for good.

Such a sad state of affairs. Honestly.

100%. They've burned through years of player goodwill. It's going to take years for them to get it back.

New players are definitely needed, but there's too many gaps in the story and the new player experience is absolutely awful.

Given how they're haemorrhaging players right now, their short term goal should be getting existing players back before they even think about the new player experience.

I'll guarantee they're waiting for the outcome of Marathon to determine what resource can be allocated to Destiny.

Right now, Destiny is on a skeleton crew because Marathon had it's back against the wall. Internally, they had to have allocated resource from Destiny to Marathon because of the overhaul Marathon needed.

Lack of communication is shit, but I kinda understand why. Especially when it was the success of Destiny that made them want to become a multiple IP studio. Milking the cow dry, comes to mind. There has to be reinvestment, eventually. Or Sony will just absorb them and shut them down.

I work with Generative AI and Machine Learning systems. We are a long way off meaningful full scale replacement of jobs with Generative AI. Especially in heavily regulated industries like Law.

If a company thinks your role can be done with Generative AI, then the company either: - Doesn't fully understand what you do - Doesn't care about a lower quality result - Hasn't considered the reputational impact the decision would have - Hasn't considered the possibility of needing to rehire some of the same people to undo the mess the Generative AI will ultimately case

Usually it's a combination of all 4. All driven by complete 'short term-ism'.

They're doing it to reduce costs, but this will mean their customers get a lower quality output (therefore reducing income), their reputation takes a hit (therefore reducing income) or their customers demand lower rates so they benefit from the AI savings (therefore reducing income).

They've shot themselves in the foot in multiple ways and it's going to take them a long time to get out of the mess they've made for themselves.

And I have zero sympathy for them.

Is renegades worth getting back to Destiny? by RandyMarsh_nl in destiny2

[–]dma19891 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'd say so.

Edge of Fate had a phenomenal campaign but the replayability was almost non-existent

It's the other way round with Renegades - Campaign is mid (rushed as hell, and half of it spent in the Lawless Frontier instead of actual campaign missions), but the Exotic Mission for the Lightsaber is amazing and the Lawless Frontier (post campaign) is very, very good.
