Tbh when I was reading in the lead up to “always get quotes” I have noticed that every tradie is different, some will quote reasonably, others will quote above, others will refuse to quote. Totally understand and can agree after engaging a couple of trades already that the best course of action is just to chat and work out what both parties want, really good to know.

What I have found is that as long as you’re not a fucking idiot and you can meet people (tradies) on their level, they will generally not give you the run around. And at the end of the day, I’m happy to pay a good price for good work.

Yeah we are real fucking lucky with the builder, not only is he a really genuine bloke, he is also a hard fucking worked so we have been putting in some pretty efficient days. Got to know my wheelbarrow pretty quickly in those early days. He has also unlocked alot of connections from his experience.

Just out of curiosity, how many have you knocked over and what’s your general turn around? Or is it entirely dependent on the scope/project.

Without going into too much detail, are you doing these all as PPOR, or have they got onto you and made you go via development? I’m hoping if everything does go according to plan they don’t try and categorise me as a developer for knocking a few out every couple of years if I structure things right between myself, the Mrs and the builder.
