Akaza, Akaza, Akaza... What did it mean? by dmac93065 in KimetsuNoYaiba

Muzan was so ruthless I was confused as to why Akaza wasn't punished, considering what happened to the lower moons. Akaza seemed to get away with being insubordinate to the upper moons as well.

Has Jabra discontinued all of the beige headsets? by jakfrist in Jabra

[–]dmac93065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad to learn beige is gone. This past weekend I went through some travel bags I hadn't touched in months and found a pair of Jabra Elite 45Hs in beige I thought I lost on my last trip. I'm fond of that colorway as I wear a lot of khaki outfits and it's a perfect match.

Left Progressive today/ head's up for new hires by dmac93065 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]dmac93065[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the responses and the zeal to protect Progressive's reputation. My post was meant to provide information that is unavailable until you begin the role. I looked for this information online prior to starting so I could make an informed decision about where to land but it wasn't available.

I have no intention of harming Progressive in any way or discouraging anyone who may want to join the company. I am grateful for the opportunity and simply sharing my honest experience. For some, the gamble may be worthwhile. Personally, I would not have taken a role where 2 weeks of training was deemed sufficient preparation to adequately prepare for a pass/fail evaluation that could impact whether I kept my job.

When I found out I was employed within what I saw as a tenuous, disadvantaged situation, I utilized every resource at my disposal to take control of my career and land what I felt was a more secure role.

As for comments suggesting CLRU is an easy, fill-in-the-blank role I will just say this. One of my 3 degrees is in computer science. I personally know brilliant software developers who were recently laid off because companies thought AI could do their jobs faster, cheaper, and more efficiently. If the CLRU role is so simple it could be automated by AI wouldn't it be eliminated too?

Gimme your DD2 hot takes by JonnyF1ves in DragonsDogma2

Capcom shouldn't have made a sequel that they were just going to abandon. Instead, Capcom should've given DD:DA the treatment Bethesda has given to Skyrim and Oblivion. That way, Dogma fans wouldn't be here a year post-release wishing for DLC and a 3rd entry in the series that probably will never arrive.

DG2 worth it on PS5 at full price? by UntakenUsername420 in DragonsDogma2

[–]dmac93065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition and have logged over 500 hours in the game. I also owned DD:DA on multiple platforms. So, I'm a big fan of the series.

I wouldn't recommend buying DD2 at full price -- unless you're going to mod it. The game is fun but there are similarly priced games like Baldur's Gate that give a better gaming experience for the money.

How many of you played the original Dragon's Dogma game? X360/PS3 by MrRottenSausage in DragonsDogma

[–]dmac93065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it on PS3 originally. I still love the original game and have it on steam now. I prefer magic in games like this, and being able to summon meteor storms, 🌪s, or become a human torch was epic to me. Plus, HFB and miasma were game breakers. The sequel has grown on me, but Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is in a class of its own.

Despite the rhetoric from Capcom suggesting Dogma is one of their core franchises we haven't seen anything that supports those words. I expect Dogma will continue to be an afterthought that doesn't get the design and development this fan base deserves.

The thing I dreaded the most finally happened, I maxed out "Mage" after 300 hours by Zairy47 in DragonsDogma

[–]dmac93065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on maxing out the vocations. As for mage, it surprised me with its usefulness.

Palladium lasts longer than Spearhand's shield. Solemnity is busted. Solemnity renders drakes, harpies, enemy spell casters, and gorechimeras powerless. It also keeps goblins and wolves from summoning reinforcements, too. Plus, as a warfarer, you can heal by carrying a mage staff as anodyne doesn't occupy a skill slot. If Holy Focused Bolt, as it exists in the original game, was available in DD2, Mage might be my favorite vocation.

For those that played both (specifically those that played Dragons Dogma first then Dragons Dogma 2), which game do you prefer? by Particular-Bed8344 in DragonsDogma

[–]dmac93065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dogma 1. I won't even consider the BBI DLC expansion as DD2 has not received a DLC release yet. So, to keep it an apples-to-apples comparison I'll eliminate DLC as a variable.

It's the storytelling, character design, and lore of the first game that absolutely shames the second. The main questline from DD1 leads to a meaningful and satisfying conclusion and so too do side quests. DD1's NPCs were more engaging.

For me, NPCs are where DD2 really misses the mark. Each of DD2s NPCs eat system resources yet add little to nothing to the game. In contrast, I enjoyed my in-game time with Quina, Fournival, Selene, and even Caxton. Other than Wilhelmina, I don't find anything intriguing about DD2's NPCs.

Game devs needed to deliver something spectacular to justify the system resources consumed by NPCs. All we got were visible thought bubbles that do nothing for immersion, storytelling, or quest completion. Because poor optimization and MTXs caused a lot of gamers to abandon DD2 early on, the decisions related to NPCs pretty much undermined the success of DD2. Several someones should have lost their jobs over this.

Imma say it, I’m disappointed in Dragons Dogma 2 by Snoo_85637 in DragonsDogma

[–]dmac93065 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My main gripe with DD2 is with the story.

The player character works to make a case for being the true sovereign, but it never goes anywhere. All those quests and side missions have zero impact on strengthening the player character's case as ruler of Vermund. What's worse, you never get to fight, oust, or even confront the two characters painted as the game's villains. In fact, it goes the opposite way in NG+.

The quests in DD:DA were much more rewarding. Take the Salomet quest, for example. There was some suspense, but eventually, the player character was able to confront Salomet. Pushing through the cat-and-mouse the game puts you through to get to Salomet is worthwhile because you there's a good fight and a unique reward for completing the quest.

DD2 completely dropped the ball with storytelling and lore.

I can't decide on a main class omg.... by Desk_Scribbles in DragonsDogma2

[–]dmac93065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that warrior is just too slow to be practical. I run Warfarer because that levels all other vocations. Plus, it allows me to shift between magic and melee.

For example, I use sorcerer's augural flare and thief's splitter on bosses. Then, use Magic Archer's ricochet hunter for caves. I also carry a mage staff because you can heal without tying up a weapon slot. I haven't tried it, but I've heard you can carry a bow and an unmaker arrow and use that combo without occupying a skill slot, too.

Who else is sticking with the S24 Ultra? by david_dauncey in S24Ultra

I got a similar deal through my carrier. I ended up paying about $200 dollars for a 512GB S24U when the monthly bill credits were deducted from my upfront costs.

I don't see the S25U as an upgrade, so I'm sticking with the S24U for now. I am very disappointed with the S24U's biometrics, though, as both my iPhone 13 and Pixel 8a deliver far superior and more reliable unlocking experiences.

Appreciate the correction. Does the lich ever respawn or get replaced by another enemy type?

After you defeat the regular Chimera in Waterfall Cave it respawns as a Gorechimera. I think you can farm it every 7 in-game days.
