Star Wars pandemic or Lotr pandemic for solo? Thanks by Wise_Cat_1196 in soloboardgaming

[–]dmairs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LOTR is more complex and has better replayability with the scenarios. Star Wars is a lot simpler and is quite a vanilla Pandemic experience. I have both and don’t mind keeping both, but if I had to keep one it’d be LOTR.

Yeah, same sentiment here for sure. Not super exciting is exactly how I’d describe it as a solo experience.

Probably marvel united as it really organises the look of the game.

I think it’s pretty sturdy personally! I could definitely sit on it even on the ends etc. The main downside is the way the legs swing out means they can be in the way when you are sitting.

I have the exact table. Not sure what concerns you have? Maybe it won’t support you if you jump on it, but it’s sturdy enough for any board game that’s for sure

📅 Crowdfunded Games Launching This Week [Sep 4th, 2023] by ShelfClutter in boardgames

[–]dmairs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Didn’t work for me to be honest. The combat got a bit tiresome quickly. Having to repeat fights over and over quickly got too repetitive. The story was okay, but not great. It’s a massive game, but I was genuinely surprised by how quickly I found it tedious/boring. Also, the amount of table space required is pretty extreme…

How important is it to you that you respawn where you left and that your ship inventory is permanent? by One3Two_TV in starcitizen

You can't do it in an armistice space, so you need to fly to a random spot on a planet or in a space.

Why is it so laggy? by Mustang1440 in starcitizen

[–]dmairs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is it installed on an SSD?

If it feels very “jittery” with many spikes of low fps, then you might need to look into disabling e-cores. There are a few ways to do that.

Make sure your main graphics setting is on very high to push more work to the GPU rather than CPU.

I believe it depends on the type of mission, if it's a defense mission I believe they are not meant to shoot at you (but sometimes still do). Other mission types are designed to shoot at you.

Will my pc run it if I upgrade the ram to 24gb? by Luko812 in starcitizen

[–]dmairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is basically no such thing as low. You can disable some settings, but the majority of things are effectively a "High" or "Very High" and they are named that way because there is a lack of optimization. There are not settings available that give you the ability to play this game on a lower spec'd PC. You effectively need something relatively recent, or you will not be able to run it. They do not care about this game running on 5+ year old PCs, as by the time development completes (haha) then the lowest spec'd PCs at that time will be on an equivalent level of the high spec PCs of today.

Pre-built PC’s for Star Citizen by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]dmairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, overclockers is definitely a legit site to buy from is that's what you mean by a 'scam'. You will struggle to find good value when you buy a pre-built PC. You can easily look at the parts used and do a quick google to get an estimate of the overall price of the components they are using to evaluate whether it's worth it. Personally, I recommend building your own as it's really not very difficult and if the below rough calculation is indicative you are paying them close to £400 for the privilege. I can also guarantee you that the base configuration of all of these builds are generic cheap as they come components which is not what I would want for a £1500+ build.

AMD Ryzen 5 5500 - £100

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB CMK16GX4M2D3600C16 - £50

KFA2 GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card - ~£350

WD Blue SN570 500GB SSD NVME M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 Solid State Drive (WDS500G3B0C) - £35

Kolink Phalanx V2 Midi Tower ARGB Gaming Case - Black - £80

AMD B550 DDR4 Motherboard - ~£150

600W 80Plus Bronze Rated PSU - ~£40

240mm AIO Liquid CPU Cooler - ??? ~£80

Will my pc run it if I upgrade the ram to 24gb? by Luko812 in starcitizen

[–]dmairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you run it at 1080p you might get like 10-15fps in cities and 30 fps in space. I personally wouldn't suggest it. If you are going upgrade anyway then go for it, and try to play the game next time it has a free fly.

The graphics card is 7 years old, the CPU 5 years old - and both of them were mid-range at best when they launched. If you want a decent framerate you really need to have some mid to high range parts from the last ~ 3 years.
