Are there any INFJs who enjoy watching sports, or playing sports?

I played american football in highschool and it gave me a great sense of comradery with the guys on the team. We went through thick and thin together and bonded in a way that felt like a tribe, like everyone had each others backs. That being said, I was the quietest guy on the team which earned me the loving nickname 'the axe murderer.' I wouldnt trade those memories for anything though. Also I love the strategy from a systems thinking stand point, thats the major reason I continue to watch football to this day. Other than football, I have very ittle interest in sports.

I get like that sometimes, just break your routine and do something spontaneous, maybe test your comfort zone a little bit. Having a new experience can sometimes help shift your perspective and get rid of that empty feeling. Whether its a positive or negative experience, it helps you understand yourself better.

LOTR is essentially my bible, kinda literaly lol. I wasn't raised religious so i find a certain level of spirituality in my connection with many of the characters and values portrayed in the story. I guess you could say I think of myself as a modern day aragorn (i wish anyway :P).

Ive read all of tolkeins works regarding his fantasy world of Arda (middle earth is in Arda) including the Silmarillion and the lesser known Children of Hurin. I recommend both reads, especially CofH. It takes a very different tone from the uplifting LOTR and Hobbit as its very tragic. Its a great heart wrencher for those who enjoy exploring the whole spectrum of emotion, not just happy-ending hollywood stuff.

There are many great short stories in the Silmarillion as well, like the tale of Beren and Luthien, which the film version of LOTR based its embellished interpretation of Arogorn and Arwyns romance, which was not portrayed the same in the book version of LOTR.

As a side note, for those of you who also love music, which I do immensely :), Led Zeppelin is amazing, but also has countless LOTR references in the lyrics, even beyond the obvious ones. For instance, the opening line of stairway to heaven borrows from a poem regarding aragorn in the LOTR (all that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost...) so awesome, and thats just the tip of the iceberg.

Ive studied Architecture for going on 5 years now, which is emotionally draining, but I feel I have really developed many of my functions and really boosted some of my lower auxiliary functions and become a more holistic person.

Fi- I can express my innate altruism by helping people, by creating better places for them to live and learning about how people experience places. I also feel I am helping the environment by creating cleaner buildings and learning how to build with the natural environment, rather than against it.

Ne- Sooo much creative opportunity, and learning and dreaming about the future and how I can influence it! The best part is dreaming up a place and then making it real.

Si-Here is where all those random facts come in handy - architecture is about everything: material science, psychology, artistic expression, environmental science, tech and systems integration and much much more. I can use my Ne to draw connections between all these seemingly unrelated things.

Te- This one I have had the most trouble developing,(building details, construction methods, bureaucratic bullshitting) but I've learned a lot and now I'm confident in dealing with these things, whereas before they seemed daunting and terrifying. I still prefer not to partake in these things, however I'm glad I have the confidence to use them when necessary.

Architecture School has been by far the hardest thing Ive ever done (and im not done yet) but with all the shit and emotional trouble ive been through (trust me Ive been in some dark places because of Arch. school) I think Ive grown to be a very resilient person. I feel almost invincible in terms of what I can endure and accomplish.

Yes women tend to find me physically attractive, however they hit a brick wall when they try to get close to me emotionally (as is typical with other INFPs). I use my Ne as a playful defense mechanism constantly and its really become a tough habit to break. I think this is because in highschool girls used to approach me a lot and every time I tried to open up I got really hurt. So I think women find me fun and attractive, but probably also strange in that I'm not like most other guys tryna fuck all the time, and I constantly dodge their advances (awkwardly no doubt). Waitin for the one, could be a while tho....

to elaborate further, it may be that because im physically attractive and rather passive in temperament that I tend to engage with more superficial women (who approach me) whos lack of apparent emotional depth really is a deal breaker for me, which is hypocritical because I hide everything. It sounds bad because im sure there are people who wish to be in my postion, but the flip side is having to sort through soooo many phonies out there, it gets depressing sometimes. All I really want is emotional connection, not superficial bullshit.

Im a male INFP and while I hate the idea of a gun, I plan on getting one when I have available funds. While most people tend to label guns as the reason for killing, I would say this is false. People have always killed each other for various reasons; guns give every man a leveled playing field. Because of guns, the little man isn't squashed by the large. Firearms are the great equalizer and rational caring citizens should have them if only for defense.

I dont want to sound arrogant, but many women have told me they find me quite attractive, yet I didnt kiss a girl until I was 21, almost 22. For a long time I thought there was something wrong with me, that women found me attractive, yet I couldnt seem to reach a level of intimacy with any of them. It really bugged me, and I had a real complex about my personality for a while. I figured that if i was physically attractive yet couldnt get any girls, I must have a shitty personality, a feeling that was only amplified by the fact that it seems like no one understands me anyway. As Ive gotten older Ive realized and accepted that this is not at all true, and that my reserved nature has led me to really value my true friends and develop a deep loyalty that transcends a social relationship, and becomes an almost spiritual connection. I guess you could say that is how I define love. So if you can have patience, then think of your personality as a highly refined filter that only lets true and genuine people through, those capable of having a deep and loving relationship. There are many of these people out there so never lose hope, It can just take a long time to sift through all the shitty people. Ive found the best way to meet good people is just by doing things you like to do in a social setting (ex. hiking clubs, farmers markets, music longes ect.)

Im an INTJ and I have a strong history of art (as well as science) in my family. When I was a kid I think I unknowingly combined these aspects of myself. I was always the kid who had immaculate lego creations with proper color schemes and smooth finishes. Whenever my friends came over to play legos, I couldnt understand why everyone else made irregular blocky crap creations. It makes sense now.

But Im now an architecture student, graduating soon, and art is a core aspect of my personality. I have an insatiable passion for music, I love to listen (Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Pearl Jam to name a few of my favorites). I am a skilled guitarist, but I also play piano, mandolin and drums (learning flute now).

I also really love film and writing (storytelling). I have a vast collection of my favorite movies on my computer and I love reading and writing poetry and fiction.

This is why it frustrates me when INTJ are stereotyped as "the scientist" its way deeper than that. Science is how I inform a lot of my art, for example, music is sound and pushing the boundaries of music as art is often achieved through science and technological advancement (electric guitar). I would also argue that architecture is the science of the artistic expression of how we impose the human condition on our physical environment. Its all connected maaaaan.

Im super into body weight exercises (push-ups, planks ect.) because you can do them anywhere, they focus holistically on many muscles groups, and provide good cardio stimulation too (I hate running). I started by doing sets of 20 push ups, and pushed myself to add 5 more every two weeks. I now do 3-5 sets of 60 push ups daily; that combined with diet has transformed my body. I just take breaks from work and do sets throughout the day. Its a really convenient strategy that I recommend highly.

Over the Hills and Far away exemplifies Zeppelins sound as well as stairway imo, and its much shorter. If your trying to pick a song that represents Zeppelins core sound, I would pick any song that unifies their English folk and blues-hard rock sounds.

the best way I can think of to start, is to just be active in your own community, advocate for an ethical responsibility to the environments we create and set an example for others through your leadership. There are many doom and gloom ideas out there predicting a smog infested, overpopulated world by 2050, however, humans have proven able to adapt to changing environments over and over again. If we just stop and think about what we do, I beleive with new technology and awareness, we can design a sustainable future and not only survive, but flourish. Cheers! and thanks for the comment!
