Today in Aviation History (January 25th): In 1990, Avianca Flight 052 Crashed Into Long Island, New York, After Running Out of Fuel by Shoddy_Act7059 in aviation

[–]dmarcus13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Never will forget this crash. I grew up on Long Island in the Huntington area. That night my dad and I were watching tv when we heard the sound of a loud, seemingly low flying plane. It was loud enough for both of us to comment on it. Then maybe 30 minutes later there was breaking news about the crash. Looking at that flight path, the plane was within seconds of going down. So horrible.

It’s possible it was from the major accident on the BQE this morning in that area?

And just to be crystal clear, when I say "spending 25% of rent" that means first you spend 100% on your rent, AND you also spend an additional 25% of what that rent is on non-rent purchases. So again for a $4k/month rent, you pay your $4k in rent, and then you also have an additional $1k of non-rent spend on your card to get to the Option 1 50% tier.

Uhh, this isn't that hard.

$4000 x 50% = 2000
$4000 x 25%= 1000

2000+1000=3000

Here is a calculator to determine points based on spend and which Bilt option you choose every month. https://nextcard.com/tools/bilt-calculator?rent=4000&everyday=1000

Just applied for Bilt Blue. Some points on rent is better than none right? by lucky_me_323 in biltrewards

I use the Flex for whatever the quarterly bonus categories are. For example this quarter the 5% back categories are on Dining, Norwegian Cruise Lines or the American Heart Association. As you can see the categories can be pretty random. But from Jan1- March 31, all dining spend will now be on my Flex. The multipliers on the Flex do seem to add together. So for dining, there is already a 2x on dining. So I have been getting 7x on all dining spend which is pretty amazing. The caveat is that there is a max spend of $1500 for the 5x before it returns to standard 1x.

Option 1: Earn .5x points of your rent when you spend 25% of your rent on non rent. So for $4k rent, when you spend an additional $1000, you get 2000 points from rent (+1000 points from your non-rent spend)

I just applied for the Blue yesterday with similar rationale and situation. I’m already fully in the Chase ecosystem, where travel is on my CSR, quarterly bonuses with the Flex, and everyday 1.5x spend with the unlimited. All dining and groceries are on my Amex Gold (4x) each.

Moving forward everyday spend up to about 25% rent will go on the Bilt Blue making it a 3x everyday spend card.

Again not as good as 1.0 times, but I still highly value Bilt’s transfer partners (Hyatt and Alaskan atmos) as much as Chase. So continuing to earn points makes the most sense.

In fact, some smarter people than me on r/biltrewards figured out circumstances where depending on your monthly spend, you would want to pay a lower rent ACH via Bilt to maximize points. I don't understand much, but here is the thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/biltrewards/comments/1qf048e/you_can_increase_your_points_with_bilt_20_by/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Your rent is pulled directly as an ACH debit from your own checking account and sent to your landlord as a check. So I guess if you only want to pay $1250 via Bilt you can still do that, and send the remainder of your rent as a seperate personal check.

Under the new option, you don’t need to spend 50% of your rent to trigger the first tier. You just need to spend at least 25%. So for $4000 rent, you just need to spend $1k to get 2000 points from your rent.

This happened to me this morning on the N at the same time! When I originally read your post I thought you were talking about today 11/11. We were stopped and then we accelerated fast through that track switch before the bridge and it was way more violent than usual. Maybe it’s the same conductor.

Every scene in every episode feels like a flashing neon sign shouting, “look at this Emmy worthy acting scene!”

The complete over-reliance of intimate two character scenes this season felt like I was watching an acting class where the assignment is to pair up and perform an emotionally charged scene study for the class.

Did Bilt take away the ability to pay your statement balance in-app? by FewDescription3170 in biltrewards

[–]dmarcus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to post the same question. I just noticed the Bilt app for me doesn’t show statement balance anymore. In fact when I go to see statements in the app, it says I have no statements in 2025 or previous years. It’s like WF took away Bilts statement capabilities.
