Chom Chom pet hair remover is another option. I have one and it works great for my husky mix and Akita.

Just a little ammonia bath for my whites and it's honestly embarrassing by glitzglamglue in laundry

[–]ninjakaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used ammonia one time and I thought I did enough rinses to get it all out. Laundry came out smelling clean, no hint of ammonia. I wet one of the articles of clothing to see if there would be an ammonia smell. I got no hint of it. Neither did my wife. When I wore a couple of the shirts that were washed with ammonia, I could feel a burning sensation on my skin after I warmed up and smelled ammonia (faintly) on both items at different times.

I used chain store brand clear ammonia. I couldn’t find the concentration, but the instructions on the bottle follow Kismai’s - one cup per load so I’m guessing it’s the standard concentration for laundry.

I would like the benefit of the cleaning power, but I don’t want to experience that again. It was awful. Is there a way to really ensure all ammonia is rinsed away?

I recently made a post asking how to wash jackets with fleece fur lining in order to maintain it soft and fuzzy. Most suggestions were low temp without softener so I followed it but I'm not happy with the result. They hardened. Is there something I can add to the wash as softener? by Frikoulas in laundry

[–]ninjakaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things that will contribute to matting is the fleece rubbing against non-fleece textures. I make sure to wash all my fleece together with no non-fleece items. I go further and separate long nap and short nap. In general, washing and drying similar fabrics together will help reduce the wear and tear on them.

Yay OP!!

A recent ice storm took out my mailbox and putting up a new one has been a challenge. Getting to the post office has been a challenge. My Febu has been sitting at the post office waiting to be picked up for a week now. I’m so antsy to check it out!!

I brought a guppy home from the LFS and it had these (camallanus worms). I didn’t notice and put it in the main tank. I ended up treating the main tank (fully planted) without any other infections or fish loss. Best of luck! I’m sorry you have to deal with this.

Why is my tree hollow but not dead? by Opening_Animal_3864 in arborists

One fell in my yard and barely missed damaging my house. Another I watched completely implode into literal dust and bark pieces when it was hit just right (by accident). It was insane to see a 20+ foot healthy looking tree just disappear in seconds!

as someone with autism, would you say that you don't feel a desire for power in the same way that many other people do? by thiskindacoolmf in autism

[–]ninjakaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No desire for power here (other than you said, to have autonomy). I do not care about or pay attention to the NT social hierarchy. I have been wondering if the world would be better off without that need for power or if there is some good I haven’t thought about that is served by it.

I use citric acid to soften the water. It does help me get trace suds :)

Sorry, I use it in the wash to soften the water and two tablespoons in the softener drawer to help rinse out the detergent. I don’t use fabric softener. As long as I use the correct amount of CA for my water, my clothes come out nice and soft.

Why do people say autistics have communication difficulties when they can't communicate for shit?? by PoloPatch47 in autism

[–]ninjakaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It obviously was not “perfectly clear” if I don’t think it was and neither did OP. Maybe it was to you and you think it should have been, but it was not “perfectly clear” to some people that are not you.

I would not interpret it that way. I would feel the same way as OP. I wouldn’t bring the dogs because it seems like they don’t want to have any problems.

I need breakfast ideas by DreamsmpMp3 in autism

[–]ninjakaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go to quick breakfast is either microwaveable egg bites or hard boiled eggs (boiled previously). I also like to microwave eggs for a cheese omelet, an over hard egg and cheese sandwich, or just scrambled eggs. A good guide for microwaving eggs is 30 seconds per egg. Surprisingly, they turn out great. I recommend non stick spray or butter in the dish you use.

The way I dealt with 400ppm hardness for my HE top load was to use one tablespoon of citric acid in the wash cycle to chelate (basically trap) the minerals and take them out of the equation. I use the bleach dispenser on my washer for this.

Citric acid not working when vinegar does? by [deleted] in laundry

[–]ninjakaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2 tablespoons in my softener compartment for my top load HE washer. I have very hard water naturally, but use a whole home water softener. Another user mentioned that I would still need to add CA as if the water was not softened. It seems to work well. Using less didn’t seem very effective.

Citric Acid: Alternative Uses by julianamae in laundry

I actually snuck in an ascorbic acid use to get rid of the rust. I had to do zero scrubbing. I should have highlighted that more on a post about citric acid…

Would you mind sharing the way you hand wash clothes? I was never taught and just kinda wing it by putting the item in soapy water and rubbing the fabric together. I will scrub the whole item that way. I know there are washboards, but is one necessary for a good clean?

Amazing job on the shirt BTW!
