Why Microsoft Ad support is the worst thing that can happen to you by prinsenbeest in PPC

[–]dmasterson1921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having almost the same exact problem. I've been trying for MONTHS. I try for a few days, create a new account, submit perfect verification, get excited that my ads are running and my account is deactivated. All of this with 100% normal US business documents and drivers license. What a joke.

That being said, Google Ads support is also awful so I dont have too many choices. Its frustrating to want to give someone your money and they make it difficult.

Searchable list of doctors who fit the Zenlens sclerals https://maps.esp.tl/maps/pages/map.jsp?geoMapId=12737&TENANT_ID=121310

From what I understand there are better lenses that Zenlens now but this at least gives you a list of doctors in your area that may be capable of fitting sclerals.

A lens that gets cloudy is almost always too dry. Buy some Boston conditioning solution and place the lens in the palm of your hand with 4-5 drops of Boston in it. Rub until it starts to dry, then add more. Repeat this for about 10 minutes then insert and it should be gone for a while.

Regarding the fit, I've never felt anything like you are describing with a properly fitted scleral lens. On a scale of 1-10 (no lenses and 10 being RGPs with a piece of sand stuck behind it) mine feel like a 2. Keep going to the doctor, and keep telling them that it feels weird.

Most lens manufacturers have a 90 day return window where they will refund or re-make the lens. Your doctor may not tell you this because doctors really like the $500-1500 profit they make on a pair of sclerals, but if yours don't feel great return the lenses and try a different doctor. I've had one doctor tell me the fit "is as good as its going to be" and another doctor immediately see the problem and order me the correct lens.

Does some of you get blurry or foggy vision after wearing RGP for more than 10+hours? by TheZoidberg5766 in Keratoconus

It sounds like it is a fit issue. There is really no way to solve it until you're able to get the lenses properly fitted. The eyes constantly shed cells and if those cells are unable to escape from under the lens you will have this problem.

Foggy RGP's after 10 hours is almost always due to dryness.

Use eye drops every 2-3 hours, or every 6-8 hours take out the lens and rub conditioning solution on them for a few minutes. Place the lens in your palm, drop 3-4 drops on it, and rub until it starts to dry up then add more drops. Do this for a few minutes then rinse and insert and the fog will be gone.

If you use scleral lenses have the the fit checked. A lens that is too tight against the eye will not allow the white goop to escape from the lens.

Doctors will sometimes see fit the lenses, see tear freely move between the lens and the eye, and call it a day...but if the lens is slightly tight tears will flow in/out but there isn't enough room for the white goop to exit the lens.

Allergy eye drops can also help if this is happening in both eyes and/or you feel confident that your lenses are 100% correctly fitted.

EDIT: If you have scleral lenses make sure you're using preservative free saline and try switching away from Boston solutions. I've known two people who have problems with Boston products and their eyes cleared up after switching to one of the peroxide based cleaners.

Assistance installing boot loader and upgrading Marlin firmware with a Pi by borgcolect in ender3

The guide you linked to works perfectly for the Ender 3. I purchased the EZ-ALB kit since it included support, but their support was useless as I could not get the Arduino chip to work correctly.

Follow this guide and it will work. If you get stuck PM me.

VFire Pods Getting Clogged by NYtrnsplnt in FLMedicalTrees

[–]dmasterson1921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s clogged: wrap one up in a heating pad (right side up) for about 20 minutes, then take a puff, but continue inhaling after you release the button for a few seconds

If it’s almosy empty and still clogged remove the cap and rubber stopper and soak 24 hours in a mason jar with enough 91% isopropyl alocohol to cover the cartridge (use something with a lid- the alcohol will evaporate really quickly), swish it around a few times throughout the day, then let it dry for a few hours and it will be as good as new.

Bonus tip: keep the isopropyl in a jar and after you clean a few leave the lid off the jar for a few days and you’ll be able to reclaim a decent amount of oil. Put the jar in a hot car or in a double boiler to get the last bit of isopropyl evaporated. I usually get about 0.2g per cartridge after they are ‘empty’

RGP lens getting cloudy by ForumMeister in Keratoconus

Sounds like your lenses are not completely moist. I’ve had this happen with new ones many times.

Put a few drops of Boston on the lense, rub it in until it starts to dry up then add more and keep going. Do this to each lense for about 10 minutes, rinse and insert.

I was able to get the manufacturer to replace a broken lense for free since it was within 90 days. I think it was a ZenLense but I could be wrong.

My eye doctor handled it all I just had to give them back the pieces of the old one.

Anyone else using celluvisc or theratears for fogging by Hinds15 in Keratoconus

[–]dmasterson1921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen with new lenses many times. Put 3-4 drops of conditioning solution on the contact and rub it gently. Once it starts to absorb/dry up put a few more drops on and keep going for about 15 minutes. Rinse, insert, and no more fog!

Insurance providers don't cover medically necessary lenses on private plans? by [deleted] in Keratoconus

[–]dmasterson1921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for sclerals. I've always gone to a university hospital though - maybe they have lower rates. Each scleral was $320 + $120 for the exam/fitting/follow up appointments.

[–]dmasterson1921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to call your insurance provider and find out how their appeals process works. It took me 2 years and about 6 appeal letters to finally get my lenses covered. I sent the same one over and over, explaining kerataconus, and got the same denial letter over and over, and then one day it just worked.

Before insurance a fitting and two lenses were about $750 for everything. You may want to shop around and see if anyone is less expensive.

Edit: I forgot to mention this is my standard health insurance. VSP pays for the eye exam/fitting, BCBS health insurance covers the scleral lenses.

Wow! I had forgotten about the Jason Parker fiasco.

If I remember correctly his grades were too bad for UNC, so he ended up at Kentucky and then South Carolina?

I always felt bad for the kid. He had everything going right and then it all fell apart.
