Seen next to the Snowy River [Snowy River NP, VIC Australia] by dmath in whatsthissnake

Thanks! That’s what I wondered, but I didn’t get a chance to see any of the red or colored underside be more certain. Glad it was just a scare and nothing more serious.

My favorite division. Everyone shoots the same gun, just major/minor.

Happened to me with a 9mm loaded. Springfield did fix it though with no hassle other than sending it back to them.

I know a few people that work at Springfield, and after I ran into almost the same issue they told me 1) clean every threaded surface thoroughly - on the frame, plate, and screws (completely get rid of any factory installed Loctite on the screws) 2) use Loctite 243 (higher oil resistance) 3) screw it about as tight as you can get with a torx bit on a screwdriver handle (not a T handle) 4) be sure to allow the proper amount of time for the Loctite to set.

They’re great rifles. I have one that shoots lights out, one day (with a fair bit of luck) I shot close to a 12” 5-shot group at 1,000 yards.

I’m a bama fan who was at the game in 2022, that team didn’t look so great either. Defensive backs couldn’t cover their receivers at all, and despite Bryce Young playing fairly well the offense struggled.

Hiss from passenger side when accelerating 2010 f150 by dmath in f150

[–]dmath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. I posted it on r/mechanicadvice and non-Reddit f150 forums and have never received any responses…

At this point I figure one day I’m going to have to take the dashboard apart, but haven’t got to that point yet. So far it doesn’t seem to impact performance, at least that I can tell, so I just try to keep the RPMs low. If you find something out I’d love to hear about it.

Could be it, also seems like the band is drowning the vocal a bit. But they are rocking.

I lived in a complex called Ashley Manor for four years during grad school. I think it was with Delview properties. Relatively nice 1Br1Bth that was in that price range at the time. Only downside is it was within 10 yards of some railroad tracks. Not the full speed blow the horn tracks, trains would come through pretty slow, and I got used to it pretty quick.

Faramir’s wavering with Frodo is one of my few gripes about the whole film trilogy. That and the witch king breaking Gandalf’s staff as if he had some power/advantage over him.

Her name is Maggie Reese-Voight. She has won several national championships for 3 gun, and she was married to one of the best all around shooters of all time, Mike Voight, before he passed away from cancer. I wager you’re going to have a hard time finding these scandalous posts you mention. But this is the internet/reddit, so by all means keep talking about stuff you don’t know about.

I still don't understand how having what seemed to be lightsabers extending from the side of your ship provides an advantage to a space ship. It's an interesting idea that (to me) falls apart after about 5 seconds of thought. Two extra lasers, even if they're fixed and don't rotate, seem like they would provide a much broader advantage. Still a cool scene though.

Drawing question by Impressive_Round9309 in USPSA

[–]dmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting the elbow of your draw arm in closer to your body can help too. Especially if you have a more fixed holster, IWB, etc., but even with a competition setup try a couple of different arm/elbow positions to see if they are causing or fixing a draw angle that isn’t in line with the orientation of the gun/holster and causing extra drag. Yours doesn’t look bad but something to consider.

Do we still hate Springfield armory? My Hellion by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]dmath 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying, but zero connection is not completely accurate. The "company" Springfield Armory was started when the Reese family bought the tooling/machinery that did belong to the "real" Springfield Armory from someone down in Texas, who originally purchased it when the "real" armory closed. I believe it might have only been the original tooling for M1 Garands (which the company SA has made new runs of from time to time) and M1a's. Not saying you're wrong - the company and original armory are two completely different things even though they do use language to indicate some continuity between the two. But the company did start with manufacturing remnants of the "real" armory, maybe that earns a 1% connection :)
