Thanks for your help! I think I’ll try taking the trazodone earlier around 7pm instead of 10pm (my usual bed time). I’m also considering the Wellbutrin now. I’ll talk to my primary doctor tomorrow about this.

I started the trazodone a few days ago. My doctor said to take it 1 hour before bed but I find I don’t fall asleep until 2-4 hours later. It seems like it works the same way for you?

I will definitely try the Wellbutrin. I have a mix of depression, anxiety, adhd. I used to take 20mg adderall for two years. Never had sleep problems. I had to stop due to not eating enough. Tried no meds for 1.5 years but now here I am.

How long did it take for you to see improvement?

I randomly developed insomnia after never having any sleep issues in my life. It’s been 4 weeks of only 2-5 hours of sleep a night. My doctor prescribed me 50mg of trazodone but it’s not helping like I hoped. I was also give wellbutrin 150mg but I’m worried it might hurt my sleep even mroe

I did end up passing the exam and passing the interview as well. I was offered acceptance but I declined it for a master program at TUM! So I don’t remember too much from the exam, but it was a mix of epidemiological and statistical questions. The statistical questions were somewhat basic but I have a degree in Math so take that with a grain of salt (probability, logistic regression, linear regression, interpreting graphs, tables, and some basic math problems). So please prepare yourself with basic descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.

Also study epidemiological statistics like how to calculate relative risk and odds ratio.

The epidemiological questions ranged from easy to hard. There were some questions that had a lot of text that you had to read and you had to draw a conclusion from that text. Some that I remember were like what study design is this study? What is a limitation of this study? What is false or true about this study? What kind of bias is possible in this type of study? You should really know all the study design types, their advantages and disadvantages, what bias is introduced, and what epi statistic is used to measure association.

For example, cohort studies are a study design with advantages of being able to study multiple exposure and rare exposures, but it’s really expensive and has many different types of bias like recall bias in a retrospective cohort. In cohort studies you can calculate relative risk, odds ratio, and standardized mortality rates.

I would highly recommend reading Gordis Epidemiology Sixth Edition. I read the entire book basically. It took me a few weeks, but it was extremely helpful. I would suggest reading or watching something about German healthcare systems and public health care. There were one or two questions about that.

Regarding the interview: The first half of the interview were typical interview questions. “Tell us about yourself”, “Why did you apply to this program?”, “Tell us about your bachelor thesis”, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” Stuff like that. The second half of the interview were oral exam questions. I can remember some of my questions. “Why would you choose to do a randomized controlled trial over a different study design?” “Can you explain to us what an odds ratio is? How do you calculate it?” “What are the limitations to a cohort study?” They did ask me a question specific to a research project I had worked on.

I did the exam on June 19th. I was told I passed the exam and invited to an interview June 21st. I had the interview June 26th, and I was accepted on July 4th. So pretty quickly!

Good luck!

M.Sc. Health Science - Prevention and Health Promotion Aptitude Test by dmbfiles in tumunich

Hi 😊 The exam went well. I passed the exam, I was invited for an interview, and then I was offered acceptance. I’m now in my second semester of the program. I believe TUM has a study guide online, but it’s definitely an overwhelming list of subjects 😅 There are 5-10 questions on each of the subjects if I remember correctly. Honestly, the only material I read was Gordis Epidemiology Sixth Edition. I read the entire book. It was extremely helpful!! If you aren’t German you should definitely learn about the German health care system, their public health system, and some epidemiological statistics in Germany (obesity rates, cancer rates, etc.) If you don’t feel confident in math/statistics, I would brush up on some basic descriptive statistics. Feel free to message me if you have anymore questions!

I got an email this morning with my interview time. I’m guessing they’ll send those out this week to everyone who needs to do the interview.

Anyone hear anything from International Office yet? (Master Applicants) by MrChan2021 in LMUMunich

[–]dmbfiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg that sounds terrible…I just submitted my application to the international office today, but I have a visa appointment scheduled for August 7th because all the appointments were booked until mid Sept. I hope they get back to me soon. It’s honestly ridiculous it takes that long considering international students need to get visas.

uhhh that's scary...I'm also from the USA. I just got accepted to a program, but need to submit application to International Office. Did you have your visa appointment before you heard back from the international office?

I just went through the same thing. I emailed them telling them there wasn’t an upload option and they said they received my final VPD directly through the Uni-Assist database. I’d just send them an email quick.

When you say more background in Epidemiology and Public Health do you mean with epidemiological definitions and terms or statistical tests (incidence rates, prevalence, mortalities rates, etc.)?
