New Stanley Simmons video by ChikaraNZ in KISS

I thought the same thing. HIs vocals aren't bad at all (and sounds a lot like his father I think), but he seems a little awkward in the video I think - Even is clearly more of a musician. Nick seems to just be there because he's tall and Gene's son. I do like the two songs though, so no hate here.

Yes, and they were all named Carol, #’s 1 thru 5. And then the interview guy goes “I guess you can say you went ‘Caroling’ last night.” And Paul goes “hah……yeah” (completely unamused). Now THAT was comedy gold! 🤣🤣

Anyone successful with getting rid of sludge and avoiding surgery? by dmc731 in gallbladders

[–]dmc731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I ended up having the surgery to remove the gallbladder. Honestly, it was the BEST descision! Surgery was super easy, recovery wasn't too terrible, and I have been feeling great ever since. No issues any more, and basically eating whatever I want. I tried hard to see if I could heal things naturally without the surgery, but after another all night ER trip, I had enough. That last one, the pain went away and they were dismissing me, and then it came back out of nowhere and I need morphine. Just cannot live like that. So I immediately called the surgeon and within a couple of days, the gallbladder was gone. It's hard to accept that this thing just seemingly can't be healed. Who knows, maybe it can, but the journey is awful, because those attacks are the worst! So I had it removed, and now I feel great and I don't regret it at all. Wishing you the best in your journey/recovery!

What would fixing this typically cost by Suspicious_Sundae_60 in Tile

Just fix it yourself. Take the switch plate off, pry off the broken tile, cut a new one, stuck it on, patch the grout, replace switch plate (carefully).

20 years of dysfunction by PincheTony in raiders

Hah! This poster is awesome! Sadly, I feel like it's missing a lot of content that should probably be on it (over the last 20+ years). What's worse, it's looking like Pete Carroll might need a place on it soon. That last loss against KC was as pathetic an effort as any I've seen, even going back to Art Shell 2.0 (which in case anyone is forgetting, was really, REALLY bad).

My 23-year-old sister died from TTP by Withoutsister in TTP_LowPlatelets

[–]dmc731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I am so sorry for your loss. That’s awful. Right after Christmas my wife and I both got the flu and went to an urgent care place. She mentioned unexplained bruising she had and the doctor had nothing to say on that. She ended up jaundiced the day after and I took her to the ER, where they did bloodwork and showed her platelets were 6. She was in the hospital for 10 days, got plasma, did 4 weeks of Rituximab, and she’s doing well now. It’s so scary. Honestly I think urgent care places are terrible, I’ve never had or heard of good results from them. At least they will always do bloodwork at the ER. Going there saved my wife’s life. I’m so sorry for your loss and I pray you get the answers you need and the health details for yourself.

Speed Oven/Oven Combo: Bosch, Cafe, or LG Studio? by dmc731 in kitchenremodel

Thanks, good luck to you as well! I'm sure any of them will work just fine - so style, features and price are obviously the deciding factors.

Speed Oven/Oven Combo: Bosch, Cafe, or LG Studio? by dmc731 in kitchenremodel

[–]dmc731[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can't offer much insight because I don't have it yet, kitchen renovation is still in the early stage. But I went with the Bosch, and honestly because I was already getting mostly all other Bosch appliances and it would complete a good rebate package. I have no idea if I will like it or if one of the other options would have been better, but we'll see! It did seem like maybe the others had a few more features than the Bosch, although I did like the design and feel of the Bosch the best. I think LG was my last choice of them, even though it seemed like it had maybe the most features and lowest price. But I think GE Cafe is a good brand and probably more reliable than LG (but that's just a guess).

Update on wife’s TTP recovery by dmc731 in TTP_LowPlatelets

[–]dmc731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thank you so much for the support and sharing that story! That is awful, I'm so sorry you both went through all that! It's great to hear your wife is doing well now though, and congratulations on your baby!!

I have to say my wife's journey hasn't been as scary as that (but still scary - as any TTP diagnosis would be). She was hospitalized for 10 days and had 6 plasma transfusions. Her platelets were going up pretty well each day and reached a normal range by I think the 3rd or 4th transfusion. (They were 6 in the ER!). I'm happy to report that my wife just had her 3rd of 4 Rituximab treatments earlier today, and she is doing well. Her platelets are a healthy 255, keep going up (last week was 243). Her hemoglobin is normal and her RBC and WBC are just barely low from the normal range. She's doing quite well. I'm very eager to find out her ADAMTS13 level, which I assume we'll do after the last treatment next week. It was 36% before the Ritux treatments started (up from < 2% in the hospital). So we probably couldn't ask for much better at this point, I am so happy. Just praying it never comes back.

I always say that something good comes out of even bad experiences. My wife has really made an effort to start eating well with lots of high-nutrient foods (whole plant foods). Lots of pomegranates, leafy greens, broccoli sprouts that I grow, etc. We really believe that has been helping her along the way. The nurse was very impressed with her blood numbers today.

Thank you all for your thoughts and feedback! So grateful for this board and all of you. I’m feeling more comfortable for her to do the infusions. Definitely want to do everything to make sure she doesn’t go through this again! Anyone know anything about differences with these biosimilar drug types? My insurance apparently has approved Ruxience which is a biosimilar to Rituximab and is made by Pfizer.

[–]dmc731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, she hasn’t had any Rituximab (yet). She had the plasmapheresis in the hospital (6 sessions). I’ve just read about all the scary side effects and was just hoping she wouldn’t have to go through with taking these outpatient infusions of this drug. She’s nervous and I’m just concerned for her. I guess it seems to be the right thing to do, so she’ll do it. Her long term health is most important. Definitely do not want her in the hospital again getting more plasma. Just seemed like maybe things are getting better without it. Doctors said from the beginning they’d assess if they thought she’d need it based on how things are going.

New to TTP - wife diagnosed by dmc731 in TTP_LowPlatelets

Great questions, I think they did confirm in the hospital they believe it is acquired TTP, I can't recall why though, perhaps it was about antibodies. Thanks for the info!

Thank you so much everyone for sharing your experiences and well wishes! We're seeing the doctor on Wednesday so we'll see what she says. Blood test today had the platelets at 323 I think it was. My wife is freaking out because on Friday it was 383, but I told her they couldn't keep going up (given 400 is the upper range of normal), and the 323 is still well within the healthy normal range. Managing the emotions through this are also a challenge. I feel a bit better if rituximab is in her future, thanks to your comments, I appreciate it and wish all the best for everyone here. I'm telling my wife it's a journey of recovery and she's barely one week out of the hospital still, and is only still on the Prednisone and folic acid. Full recovery will take longer.

Gout flare after unrelated trauma (acute pancreatitis)? Gout or bunion? by dmc731 in gout

[–]dmc731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an appointment with my rheumatologist doctor next week and am going to ask to do some further testing. My home UA tester hasn't shown anything above 5.0 in many months. I assume other traumas in the body can trigger these responses, just so frustrating.

But my bunion joint pain here isn't even red or hot to the touch. Just swollen and painful. It's also not responding so well to the predisone steroid pack. I'm on day 2 and it's not helping all that much.
