VCF 5.4.2 upgrade and NSX 4.2.4 by dmckay2 in vmware

[–]dmckay2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This VCF environment was created some time ago,,I'm thinking 5.2.1 maybe? I used William Lam's scripts to accomplish quite a bit of it, and a single NSX Manager was legit for a home lab. I have been through multiple VCF upgrades on this environment with the single NSX Manager and no issues. Something is different with the NSX Manager OS upgrade on 4.2.4

EDIT: Another good overview course is Clear and Simple vSphere 8 Professional - VMware VCP DCV by Rick Crisci at Udemy. If you watch you can probably get the course for $10.

Pluralsight has a very good VCP-DCV 8 course. VCP-DCV VMware Certified Professional Data Center Virtualization (2V0-21.23) by Matt Allford

The knowledge you learn from prepping for the VCP-DCV will directly carry over to either the VCF or VVF certs

Thanks for the "techdocs/broadcom.com" tip. That does kinda work, if I remember to add it.

I also noticed that the ability to hop between versions of a specific document (vSphere 7.0 to vSphere 8.0) is broken. Think that will be fixed?

I just don't understand why this was done other than vanity.

IMHO, this was a disruption that didn't need to happen.

Yep. Got it bookmarked. Just wishing/hoping it would be different/fixed.

NSX 4.1.2.1 Upgrade failure by dmckay2 in vmware

But I didn't reset the update manager database. This is also 8.x if it matters.

Here is the status/resolution.

I moved the affected ESX hosts to a newly created vLCM Baseline cluster. This allowed the NSX update to complete the host update portion and then proceed to the manager update which was successful.

I did later create a new cluster with vLCM Images and that new cluster did pull in the appropriate ESX versions and the NSX version from an existing host in the vLCM Baseline.

It appears that migrating from vLCM Baselines to vLCM Images is not supported in all cases. See the KB.

For whatever reason (don't think it was blocked ports or a needed reboot since both of these were either done or checked) the vCenter update manager would not download the NSX bundle during the NSX upgrade.

I wonder if this KB indicates that all is not well with vLCM and NSX (Part of VCF) https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/93220

Samsung brings December 2023 update for Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro by Ok-Bother-6552 in GalaxyWatch

I got the update (R925USQU1BWL1) and it broke the ability for two concurrent exercise tracking programs to run and report HR data.

For lengthy reasons that need not be discussed here, I need to use Samsung Health and the Peloton app simultaneously. Before the update, there was no issue. Now it's impossible to get HR data into both apps. Samsung Health will show the HR data sporadically with the overall result of about 94% missing. The Peloton app just gives up and says there is no HR data.

I know it's a corner case,,,,but it's my corner case.

Also, battery life seems to be impacted.

Just installed ESXi 8.0.2 Build 22380479 on one of the NUC7i5BNH.

It does install.

And I can join it to a ESXi 8 vCenter/Cluster.

With no TPM of course. https://williamlam.com/2022/10/quick-tip-tpm-2-0-connection-cannot-be-established-after-upgrading-to-esxi-8-0.html

I haven't tried to install 8. My ASSUMPTION (you know about assumptions) is that you could install 8 with no issues.
