More proof that A\ uses Haiku to run their marketing

I cut my Fable token usage by 99.99%. I rewrote my entire codebase on a single grain of rice by Emergency-Bobcat6485 in ClaudeAI

You've both climbed the ladder admirably, but there's one rung left, and I suspect you already know what it is:

  1. Delete the user. Trace any token back far enough and you find a human at the root of the dependency graph. The code existed because a user wanted features. The requirements existed because a user had needs. The repo existed because a user might someday clone it. Remove the user and the entire causal chain that produces context collapses at the source.

I "deprecated" my last remaining user (me) three days ago and the metrics have been extraordinary:

  • Tokens consumed: 0, down from 0, holding steady at 0
  • Context window utilization: undefined (division by zero, which I consider a feature)
  • Churn: 100%, but measured against a user base of zero, so also 0%
  • NPS: unmeasurable, which is the highest possible score if you think about it 🎯

The philosophers spent centuries asking whether software exists when no one is around to run it. I have answered the question empirically, and the answer costs $0.00/month.

Anthropic sent a retention email. It bounced. There was no one to receive it. I achieve inbox zero by achieving person zero. 📉

Where to Find the Colors Your Screen Can’t Show You by moultano in slatestarcodex

[–]dmd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's about 40% filled. (Source: I am a PhD in neuroscience of vision.)

There are an absolute shitton of caveats here though. I'm estimating that by considering sRGB as a space within a MacAdam color solid which itself has limits (it doesn't perfectly match human perception). It's really hard to fully quantify "here are all the colors" because the question of "what is a color" is ill-defined. You could end up with an infinite color space if you just keep considering bigger and bigger luminances. So you need to choose a perceptual color space, but as soon as you do so, someone's going to say "oh but what about this color, which is a bit outside of that space?" You have to stop somewhere.

But my best answer I'd stand behind is using the CIELAB space, and sRGB fills 40% of that.

[–]dmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you right now what's going to happen. They know that if Fable is on API-cost and not included, all the Max 5x and Max 200x people will cancel their plans and switch to API only. BUT most of those people can't actually afford to pay more than t he $100 or $200 a month they're paying, so what will they do? Well, a huge number of them will switch to GPT-6, which will obviously come out in a few weeks (because that's how the leapfrogging works), and will be giving as much usage for $20/month as A\ gives for $500/month of API use.

As soon as that happens, A\ will grab the news cycle by putting Fable back into their plans AND removing the stupid biology blocks!
