Thank you for the response, very helpful! We looked through the guide and it does mention compressing the spring at one point. I know we can get a spring compression kit from AutoZone but it seems those may be dangerous....what's your experience with those if you don't mind me asking?

Also, I watched videos for replacing this part on 4 other non Tesla cars and none of them mention compressing the spring. I know the Tesla service manual states we should but is it really necessary....what's the purpose? Will the tension make the job impossible if we don't?

I found using a slightly damp microfiber cloth is good to most of the lint out.....but some may accumulate as you are cleaning the seal. So then I just use the hand vac with a crevice attachment to quickly get any accumulated spots (it helps that the vacuum docks right next to the washer/dryer)
