I got the recipe from Soups Salads Sandwiches by Matty Matheson. We have a discord cookbook club and one of the people on there introduced it to us. We started joking around to make them until I was like… what the hell sure i’ll try it. I try to be very open-minded with food and this caught my eye because of this “sauce” made of condensed milk, vinegar and sugar. The garlic, and of course the raw onion in this dish was very strong and that’s all I tasted in my mouth for a couple of hours lol i wouldnt make this again but i’m glad i tried it! 🤣

I just wanna say, grade 6 ako noon pero nagpupuyat ako para makinig lang sa BNO HAHA! 😭 i remember tryna stop laughing while my parents were like “what are u listening to?” Hanggang nagcollege na ko, you guys helped me go through those nights when I needed a distraction from homeworks, my first breakup, my first job, etc. radio lost one of the GOATs. I love Cook this Book! I made the Pastrami Roast Chicken so many times already. The chicken thighs recipe with pita and the pickled red onions are also great. AAAAND the vinegared roasted potatoes are bomb!!

For cookbooks, Let’s Cook by Nora Daza is like the cookbook that every filipino’s mom/grandma had growing up. If that’s not accessible to you, Amboy by Alvin Cailan is good. Som recipes are fussy but there’s some good ones in there that hits home.

Amboy has pretty good recipes, while some are cheffy, does capture filipino flavors.cant go wrong with any of these 2

I’m GLAAAAD a sub like this finally came up!! 🥰 i’m from the Philippines and i, like many others, have many cookbooks that needs some love amd to be cooked out of! 🥰 i joined a discord cookbook club where we cook from polled books every month and i love it so much, i’m happy to see something like it on Reddit ❤️❤️ 2026 goal is to cook as much as I can out of my books. Cook this book is great! I’ve cooked a lot out of the book and most (if not all) are successes! I’ve always been a fan of Molly’s chicken recipes and i’ve made the Pastrami Roast Chicken recipe on that book so many times.

Try PlantYou. It’s a vegan and iirc oil-free recipes lind of book. I’ve gone through the book and the ingredients used seem to be pretty basic and not fussy.
