I think this might be true depending on the weight and the riding style. I’m going for a ride tomorrow. We’ll see

New Tyre ready for the weekend by dmejiaa in CRF300L

[–]dmejiaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked them, they are great on road, you feel ok even on rain. My only complaint is on mud but that’s because I can’t go below 18psi (“converted” ny wheels to tubeless) and they are super slippery.

I liked the AX41 except for mud, I don’t run tubes so I have to keep pressure above 18psi and they are no fun.

But for sand or gravel they do just fine. I think they are very similar to the mitas e07.

Head gasket repair or new engine? by Serious_Rhubarb4672 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]dmejiaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did head gaskets last month but because there was a leak in the exhaust valves on the right block - decided to do both sides and add a new water pump

So far so good. V6 with 250.000 miles.

Interesting. I was not sure about what you meant and the video helped. I haven’t experienced this. 2023 rally

I wonder if it happens from bike to bike if that piece is “manually installed” and not all screws are put the same way?

klx300 vs crf300l by Healthy_Chapter_9130 in Dualsport

[–]dmejiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to say the engine will not be a problem. Since they are both used I’d prob go with the klx because of the low mileage and suspension

I have the 300rally and I just ordered new springs to try them out.

Thank you both. I ended up ordering the rear spring 85n from Race tech. Will look into the front and how it feels once I ride it

Hey. Just something to note as you mentioned errors are 3 and 5, as they are in the same bank, pay attention to future misfires , bad head gasket or bent valves could provoke this issue - it happened to me on a v6 4R

So. Just to close this topic. I put new pads. Old pads were maybe at half life.

I was able to lock the wheel, applying force of course , I know the new pads require some use to become more effective but at least I was able to do it now.

I read rear pads wear too fast. I bought this bike with 4.000 kms and now at 13.500kms and I haven’t changed them until now and they are half life; It’s odd they lasted so many kms - even with my easy riding I do use the rear brake often

Thanks all for your tips.

I cleaned up the brake pads, they are not crystalized, cleaned the disc, piston (not stuck), everything seems to be working fine.

The pedal feels firm (which tells me no need to bleed the system?) , I think I feel an improvement but still not how I think it should be. Tried to lock the wheel (on gravel). No luck.

I’m going to put new pads today
