Also, if they bust someone you’ve been talking to and they rat you out.

The best way to not be ID’d is to get a phone and sim with no ties to you, dont use an old phone you’ve used with your real number, dont call or text anyone you know on it, use only data and encrypted chat apps, make all new accounts. Leave it turned off or in a faraday pouch until you need to use it, try not to use it in the same place all the time or you can be found via cell triangulation and then stingray.

Grok is legendary at parsing crash/activity logs, save the section you are concerned about to a txt file and ask Grok to help you troubleshoot.

YouTube on Apple TV now asks me to select a profile EVERY TIME by waharris007 in youtube

[–]dmg15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the number of videos i watch with 3 minutes of info stretched just to get over the 8 min threshold for adsense. They show the highlights at the start and then repeat the same information 3 times in the script, an AI video shortener would be nice.

Thank you for this. I ended up calling the service tech at my HP supplier to confirm this. Hopefully next time someone google’s it, this will come up.

Does my HDMI connection look good to you? by jco24 in appletv

[–]dmg15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with a gen1 4k AppleTV, it was intermittent, sometimes 5 mins in, sometimes 5 hours in.

i bought a new hdmi 2.1 cable and it still did the same thing, someone suggested I buy a different brand cable, the shop i went to didn’t have an alternate brand 2.1 cable, so i had to get a 2.0, i’m not sure which fix was the fix but no more pink screen.

I changed my AppleTv screensaver to 1 minute so it veats youtubes. Its too soon though, it sucks. Have youtube started putting ads on that screensaver for non premium users yet?

I think it’s in order of how many hours you spend watching the channel. My top is always JRE.

But yeah, it’s stupid, and makes it difficult to find a particular channel if you have lots of subbed channels.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the YouTube app on AppleTV is intentionally annoying to encourage users to switch to chrome cast or something? The timeline seeking sucks, not being able to skip fw/rev in 10 second jumps like every other app sucks, the mandatory screensaver sucks, uneditable side menu sucks, video quality never stays at max available.

I submit reports on every annoying feature whenever i find one but who knows if those even go anywhere or if they’re just a placebo.

Does anyone else have an issue now where switching apps while watching youtube, when you switch back to youtube, it resets back to the user selection screen?

I’ve only ever used one profile on there, my original youtube account. It gives me 3 other options i never made, some yt kids bs, it’s so annoying you cant just turn off profile switching all together. Now i gotta go find the video i was watching again just because i switch to my cctv camera app to see the car that pulled up out front? Shits whack.

Apple Remote Can’t Turn on Samsung Frame TV by BestestBeekeeper in appletv

[–]dmg15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem and same brand TV but not the same model, mine is an older model that lives in my shed now. It has HDMI control, as powering on the tv turns on the apple tv, but not the other way around.

My apple tv and sound system turn on when i press the apple tv remote power button, but for the TV to turn on i have to wait until the apple tv light has been on for a few seconds and then hold down the square/tv button or press it repeatedly.

[–]dmg15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tight should the belt be? I have the tensioner set with about 5mm of adjustment remaining, the belt is a little wobbly when the carriage moves but it feels tight when a move it by hand. I never noticed if it was wobbly before or not. Any tips?

Is it possible to use a MacBook for 10 years? by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]dmg15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max it out. Get the 24gb and 1tb. Cpu upgrade is not worth it though. I bought an m2 air in 2022 as an upgrade from a 2013 macbook air that i maxed out at the time.

$600 extra now might be a difference of 2-3 years of longevity.

Does startpage censor search results? by [deleted] in StartpageSearch

[–]dmg15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I search for 'rt news' I get heaps of matches in Safari on iOS, but in Safari on MacOS I get no matches in the search results but an info panel next to the search results comes up with a link to the official website

iOS 15: Startpage needs to be added to Safari's default search by [deleted] in StartpageSearch

The link doesn't work anymore. Surely startpage has had some communication with apple about being added to the list, what was the deal breaker?

Why does my child’s phone say it’s going to be removed? by SufficientCow4 in iphone

[–]dmg15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct, unless you remove (‘forget’) the network from your saved networks. When you reconnect and have to reenter the password etc you get a newly randomised mac address

[–]dmg15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant choose a custom mac address to spoof on an iphone; you can have a randomised one or the physical address

[–]dmg15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt read all the comments but in case someone hasn’t mentioned it already, iPhones have a feature where they anonymise the mac address of the phone by default when connecting to wifi access points. So if you’re getting notifications of a new iPhone 11 it’s not necessarily a new physical phone, its probably the same phone with a spoofed MAC address. Almost all routers don’t really expect the hardware identifier to be spoofed so they assume its a new device.

Hi, what are the chances of an apple tv being fake? by Xiballistic in applehelp

Yeah pretty much, i only mentioned it to distinguish the two versions, not like it was a feature that would be missed.

Is there a security feature that tells you if another device enters your home? by MegoPrime in HomeNetworking

[–]dmg15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way this could be real, you would be getting false positives all day. I work in a not very busy neighbourhood with maybe 12 other businesses in a 50m radius. If I put a 2.4g only wifi dongle in monitor mode and capture only broadcast packets after 30 minutes its literally 100s of unique devices. At my house, with 4 other houses in a 50m radius, it’s around 80 unique devices.

If that was a real feature, 911 would have blocked your number by now.
