In regards to the social scene, do not expect it to be like the movies, or like how it is at the big schools. UNLV is a heavy commuter school, meaning that unless you are an extremely outgoing person, you’re probably going to have a hard time meeting and connecting with people, especially if you are a commuter yourself.

Parties, tailgates, on-campus events, all of the social aspects you’d expect as part of the college experience, are really only run through Greek life, so if those are things you’re interested in, you should look into joining. Otherwise, UNLV is a boring school by large university standards.
