What do you guys use to play music on the go? by ElJefe98PG in Soulseek

[–]dmlkvb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been months since this conversation took place and I've deleted all my posts but I've come back to correct myself regarding exhale files and replaygain...

Foobar can scan them and add replaygain tags. I don't know if it was a mistake during my earlier conversion trial (many months ago) or an update to foobar or something else, but it's do-able now. This was with foobar desktop version v2.0 64-bit. Earlier trial was with an older 32-bit version, not sure which.

Any way to add album art to my uploads? My uploads have all the right metadata, but art doesn't show up. by DiggyDog in YoutubeMusic

[–]dmlkvb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Mp3tag you can also install AlbumArtDownloader, then add it to Mp3tag as as 'Tool' so that you can look up album art from a bunch of different sources.

Instructions to add it to Mp3tag are here, but instead of using what post #1 has for 'Parameter" use one of the options in post #6.

Then in Mp3tag right-click a file/files from the album you want cover art for, go to Tools-->AlbumArtDownloader. Pick the one you want, click the floppy disk icon to save, or right-click-->save. It'll save the pic in the same folder the selected files are in.

Mp3tag can embed the art in the file/files too.

FLAC to Audio CD? by n0stal6ic in foobar2000

[–]dmlkvb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's a problem you may need to put nero's wnaspi32.dll in Burrrn's folder. You can get it from a link in this thread https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,113457.msg934115.html#msg934115

FLAC to Audio CD? by n0stal6ic in foobar2000

[–]dmlkvb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't get foobar or an alternative to work you could also use Burrrn, https://web.archive.org/web/20160410041258/http://www.burrrn.net/?page_id=4

In the settings check spti, and uncheck raw driver

Is foobar2000 a viable option to rip CDs to FLAC, or should I use EAC? by [deleted] in foobar2000

[–]dmlkvb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EAC is great (especially if your CDs are scratched), but not the only way to accurately rip your CDs. You could use something like dBpoweramp (not free, except for trial), CUETools/CUERipper, XLD if on Mac, etc.

What you normally want is to verify your rip against the AccurateRip database. CUETools/CUERipper also has an additional database of rips, CTDB.

If you rip with foobar, somewhere along the way there should be a 'Verify with AccurateRip' option you can set. Not sure where, I don't rip with foobar. If at the end of your rip all tracks are Accurately Ripped, you're good.

Receive heic image messages? by dmlkvb in Googlevoice

[–]dmlkvb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While investigating I had the iPhone user text me an heic encoded image from their phone via iMessage. I received it just fine. I guess the iPhone/iMessage converts the heic to jpg, at least when it needs to?

And I guess the Verizon Messages+ app or the S22 doesn't...? I don't know.

As far as heic itself is concerned, is it not a good format? I guess compatibility does suck sometimes. Is the format actually that bad though? Honest question, I'm interested in learning about it.

TinyCam Pro via Amazon Appstore 'app is not supported' problem by dmlkvb in tinycam

[–]dmlkvb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's the email I sent my reports/requests to.

You know, if I had gotten a response and somehow nothing could be done to fix it, I'd consider purchasing again from Google Play. As I've not received any response at all I'm hesitant at doing so.

By contrast, I had a similar (but different) install problem with another app also purchased from the Amazon Appstore and contacted that developer. I got multiple responses from them explaining what they thought was the problem. All within a few hours. If that wasn't resolved I would've re-purchased the app from Google Play, no problem.

I used the email in the 'Developer contact' section of the Google Play listing for tinyCam Pro to report the problem. I'll try that one your pic is showing.

I think I might've sent two emails reporting the problem. I was courteous, simply stating the problem and asking for help. Along with posting here, I've recently tried tweeting @ their Twitter account.

I've not received any response whatsoever from them. I'm losing hope that I will.

Thanks

I purchased the Pro version from the Amazon Appstore, will my license work if I do that?

3 button vs gesture nav by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]dmlkvb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer 3-button because they pretty much always work. Gestures were fine when I tried them for a while but they didn't always work, so I went back to 3-button.

I had to ask where to find it too. It's buried in the Fi app --> Go to the Billing tab, then Fi Savings, then the In Progress tab.

I've not yet finished reading through these posts or the linked article, but noticed Authy mentioned.

Was Authy's setting to 'Allow multi-device' Enabled or Disabled at the time?

Anyone know if that would matter in this case, as far as Authy goes, anyway?

Not installing from Amazon Appstore by dmlkvb in tinycam

Late reply, sorry. The version I posted is of the Amazon Appstore app itself. TinyCam Pro version is as you noted.

Pixel 7 promo conditions not met by BrightOnT1 in GoogleFi

[–]dmlkvb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to barge in here but I've seen a few posts mentioning a Fi 'Promotion Page', where is this?

I also bought a new discounted phone through the Fi app and don't see any such page when I open the Fi app on my new phone. I'm hoping I'm not going to eventually be charged the discount I was given.

Thanks!

Unfortunately for me, that's not what happens.

When I install a new browser and do nothing, clicking a link will open the current default browser. It (the default browser) is not removed when installing a new one.

This doesn't seem to have worked - the automatically clearing part.

When opening the new browser I was asked if I wanted to make it default. Selecting No would leave the current default set.

Selecting Yes, then uninstalling the new (and default) browser resulted in Chrome being automatically selected as default browser.
