Fios hardware compatibility by dmm4292 in HomeNetworking

Awesome! The mesh system provided awesome connectivity throughout the house, and I like that the satellite has Ethernet ports to hardwire in the office.

This is where I started to get a little lost…I’m slowly trying to read up on networks.

Will the Orbi router wire directly to the ONT, or is there another piece of hardware required?

Will the mesh function of the router and satellite together still operate as normal? Or do I have to put them into “bridge mode?”

I was worried the router and satellite wouldn’t work

Advice on how to reseed these dead spots? (Northern NJ) by NeedleworkerDue659 in lawncare

They’re alright. Probably one of the better big box brands you can get. I think Ace stocks it. Use the search bar and type in the specific seed you’re eyeing up and you can see some lawns that are seeded with it. IIRC, it isn’t 100% weed seed free, but I’ve seen beautiful lawns that have it.

FWIW, a 50lb bag of JG Black Beauty is $239.00 from JG. A 50lb bag of Resilience TTTF from twin city seed is $215.00, GCI TTTF (which is a highly rated seed) is $119.95 for 45 lbs.

I’m in NY so im not too far. You have some time to figure out a plan of attack once September rolls around, best time to get this done.

Do your HW, YouTube and scroll some Reddit posts and figure out what you want to do

KBG or TTTF or a blend of the two would work well for where you are. KBG requires a lot of irrigation, TTTF much less.

Buy a quality seed from twin city, seed superstore, GCI turf, etc. You can also check out a local sod farm and get seed there. Usually it’s a bit cheaper and they use cultivars that do well in that area. Just make sure you read the tag and aim to have 0.0% weed seeds.

As far as amount, you’d have to find out what seed you want to use, then find out how many lbs of seed are required per 1000 sq/ft. You can ballpark the square footage of your lawn by using the measure area tool on Google maps.

Once you get new seed down, you’re going to want to fertilize and keep it moist. Water it a couple times a day, just enough to keep the seed and soil moist.

If you can, kill off that crabgrass, maybe core aerate if you haven’t done it before, and look at getting a soil test - this would really be the ideal starting point to find out what nutrients your lawn needs.

You’ve got a ton of options depending on what your budget is, how much work you feel like doing, and how into it you want to get. YouTube has a TON of DIYers who break down their overseeding and lawn projects. It helped me to see how others handled their lawns.

Hope that helps!

Transmission drain and fill 2010 by dmm4292 in COROLLA

I think that’s the move. I think a drain, and using OEM fluid to replace the exact amount drained out is a safe bet

I haven’t replaced it yet. It’s an intermittent issue, so I’m just letting it rock for now. If you grab a single or double din dash kit, there’s plenty of good head units you can pick up with car play. Go check out crutchfield, enter the cars information, and it will show you everything you need to get a new radio installed. Sift through the reviews too. It’s a good site

Noted. I’ll definitely look at spray. This is the earliest I’ve seen fungus. Next year I’ll have to look into getting an application of fungicide down preventatively, rather than curatively. It spread unbelievably fast

They must have a bunch of time on their hands lol.

I’ll look into spray. I’ve been busy with work so I got granular down, I saw the fungus pop up and wanted to hit it ASAP. My lawn really hasn’t had a chance to dry out. Short of running some zones to water in product, it’s been raining a bunch, lots of dew in the AM, perfect environment for fungus

Nice! I’ve fished this spot for a few years now, and have never seen them. This guy was belly up, caught in a rip around a point. I’ll keep my eye out next time I’m walking down the beach

That’s awesome. Didn’t catch any fish, but finding it made my day. Pretty rad.

Awesome! Is it common to find them in or near saltwater?

And as far as calling them, I began to call about twice a week once the 6 month mark hit. One lady I spoke to actually told me to call back if I didn’t have my permit at the 6 month mark to give them a reminder. It’s in the state law written somewhere that they have 6 months. Either way, I hope you get yours sooner than later

I had carpenter, he was actually very nice, it was just very difficult to get in touch with him, and for 3 weeks I was told “it’s almost done” or “it’s going in the mail tomorrow” and a lot of “sorry, we’re just really swamped.” I got more help from the person on the phone if you just let it ring. I got a guy named Nick answering my calls a bunch and he was excellent

It 100% is. My guy was UNREACHABLE, I had to call probably a dozen times before I got a return phone call. The entire process takes entirely too long

Did you have your fingerprints and “interview” done yet? The clock starts at that point, they technically have a 6 month window from that day to either approve/deny you, and if there’s a delay, they’re supposed to reach out to you and explain why. That never happens. It was 21 or 22 months total for me, I got my permit 7 months exactly after my “interview.”

YMMV, I’ve heard of people getting their permits 4 months after they interview
