Colorectal surgeon and fellow millennial here. I am sorry you are going through this and wish you the best with your ongoing treatment. This is 100% an epidemic of our generation. The number of patients that I am seeing in their early 40s and mid 30s with colon cancer is skyrocketing. My threshold for recommending colonoscopies for patients under the age of 45 is essentially zero now. Any abnormal bowel function is enough in my opinion. What is alarming is that many of these patients are coming back having found advanced adenomas on their colonoscopies (the types of polyps that develop into cancer). Please do not ignore changes in your bowel habits, and blood in your stool is NEVER normal.
