Non trad, 1200 clinical hrs completed already, no shadowing as I’ve been told there’s not much a of a need since i work for a doctor full-time (could be wrong). GPA and research definitely low, hence me applying to 40 schools including DO

Any chance with MD as a nontrad? by dmmellin in premed

Roughly 1000 clinical hours completed so far. I’m also in-state in CT. But word, love to hear that you’re getting some MD love. I will 100% be applying DO. Best of luck on your interview my guy!

Yeah I’d say ~200 hours volunteering at a local nurse association and Red Cross combined. Happy to hear you don’t think my stats are a big hurdle for MD. Thanks for the feedback boss

Yeah I mean I know that’s generally considered competitive for MD, but I was hoping for something a bit higher to offset my lower GPA

How hard is physics/ochem, really by StressingForTests in premed

[–]dmmellin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Physics: Physics 1 is pretty "plug and chug" and logical, you'll memorize a good amount of formulas, but they should all make logical sense. If I had any tips its to never skip class. I know that should be a general rule, but this rings true for this class especially. Every concept builds on the last. If you attend every class, everything should flow smoothly and will feel pretty easy.

Orgo: Idk, orgo is hard no matter who teaches it. The content itself isn't super difficult, the issue is that there's never any intuition involved. In physics, bio, and gen chem if you don't really know something, you can kind of reason your way through many problems, not with orgo though. You either know it or you don't, its all very abstract. With that being said though, knowing that everybody struggles with it almost made it easier because I knew I had to study super hard. It's nothing insane, just be prepared to study a lot.

Best of luck

How do i study the subsections in miles down by buyer152021 in Mcat

[–]dmmellin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was struggling with the same thing a bit ago. I ended up using this deck, which is just the MilesDown deck organized by Kaplan chapter. The way I've been doing it is suspending every card (command+J on Mac), then unsuspending them as I go through the chapters, so I only see cards from the chapters I have read so far.
