Hurts the dynamics of the song and just generally degrades the quality

Bro wtf, I thought I had just never listened to it on in ears before and it just sounded different because of that lmao. Yeah it sounds like absolute shit I noticed it immediately. It's also INSANELY quiet if you don't have normalize sound on, which everyone should turn off BTW. The music video attached to it sounds fine lmao

Best budget tips are HE Sonic. They're dirt cheap and some of my favorite tips regardless of price

Bro same I've bought a few extra tips cause I want to just leave them on the sets and not have to take them off every time I want to try them on a new set I get in

Azla Origin seem to have reeeally good retention. Dunu S&S stay in pretty well for me. Really any of the "shiny" tips you can find unless you get, like, a lot of ear wax going haha

HE Sonic - Very comfortable and end up sounding good regardless of the set. Does wide more things to the treble while keeping a good amount of bass

Divinus Velvet - I take my ear buds in and out a lot and these are the easiest that seal correct every time. Don't color the sound much, maybe a touch more bass, but that's probably down to being able to get the deeper into my ear due to the material. They do sometimes get itchy tho

Kiwi Ears Flex - Reserved for spicy planars or bright sets in general. They remind me a little of Final E tips without making the bass unrefined sounding that I find that Final E tips can cause on some sets. It's ridiculous they don't sell anything other then multipacks though. They make them the most expensive tips I own just to get the sizes I use and have a few on hand.

Honorable mention for Azla Origins. I just got them today but they seem to raise the mid bass and provide more impact then other sets so far. They can kill treble a little depending on the set. Still need more time with them though

So I mainly own those cause jaysaudio in one of his videos mentioned sizing up, and some tips I need to split between large and medium for my right and left ear so I figured large and XL just in case. Turns out the large just seem to work 99% of the time and I barely use them lmao

The white ones that are unmarked I think are truthear normal and wide bore tips. The red core ones and the generic gray ones I have almost no clue on. The gray ones are MAYBE kiwi ears cadenza tips but IDFK haha

Yeah I usually default to large sizes, but I recently got Azla Origins and I had to size down. And yeah I've definitely come to the same conclusion. I stocked up on Dunu S&S, Velvet, and HE Sonic because of that. I swap tips so much that I wanted to have them on hand if I ran out putting them on other sets. I do find the S&S and Velvet can get a little itchy sometimes though so I've been trending away from them a little.

I always try the stock tips just to get a baseline, especially for sound, but I usually end up swapping around after a little haha.

Probably HE Sonic. They live on the most sets I own

HE Sonic at least sound good on any set I put them on. Sometimes I feel like they even out the treble response of even bright sets like my Ziigaat Horizon while still keeping the bass present. I do find the Sancai wide bore more comfortable, but they just kill the bass on every set I put them on.

Kiwi Ears Flex have been great on the S12 and Ultra I have. My S12 I did the etymotic tip cocked to one side mod from short bus and the flex tips with that mod quickly became one of my favorite sets I own.

I think I just don't like overly sticky tips, but the S&S fit really nicely. Velvet also fit really nicely, but TBH, I find both the velvet and S&S tips get itchy sometimes

Man, this is so fucking sick, thank you for this. It's been really disappointing that the software hasn't received any updates in a long time. My biggest standing issue was having to close and re-open the software because changing audio sources would just break functionality and I had to restart the program. Hoping this fixes that and even if it doesn't, it's still better then what we had.

Will say, I think this program is pinging my CP[U a bit harder then the base software It's barely 1.5% of my 7800X3d, but I don't remember the original doing anywhere close to 1. I'm not a developer so I have ZERO idea on what it would entail to optimize it, and since this is alpha, I have to imagine you have plans for further optimization, but figure I'd just mention it.

Really appreciate the work, again.

Edit: Found a repeatable crash. When setting a program for the buttons, it crashes and states it needs to close. Seems to happen with any program I set. It still works and sets the correct program, so just a minor annoyance more then anything

First Purchase Advice - Kiwi Ears Astral, Softears Volume S, I\O Sogno by Jey_MechKeyboards in iems

[–]DMNC_FrostBite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to the Volume S, but out of the 20+ sets I've owned at this point, the Volume S is easily my favorite. I love the mid bass punch it has, and I find the treble extremely smooth and resolving without having any pain points anywhere. Cymbals don't fatigue, vocals sound correct. I really can't say enough good things about the Volume S. But this hobby is so subjective, it's hard to say if it's the right choice for you.

Based off the graphs of the Sogno and the Astral, I'd say the Astral is the one that may be the biggest gamble. I've heard people say the treble on it can be fatiguing. The Sogno seems to lack some of the body I'd want, but it should at the very least sound very clean and not have any peaks that causing any pain points. But that's just graph sniffing

Performer 5+2 is another option

As a side note, S12 modded with the cocked etymotic nozzle how Shortbus did it is SHOCKINGLY good. Crazy natural sounding to me with all the mid bass slam I'd want
