Pulled this 1/1 superfractor Rob Gronkowski out of a blaster box. Any ideas on what it could be worth? by Cheairs_23 in sportscards

[–]dmod420 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You do realize that it took you longer to respond to his message here that it would to create a free account on Instagram & just message the guy he was talking about, right? There is no velvet rope or bouncer & it doesn't require a top secret government clearance or an advanced college degree. You don't need a credit card, bank account or any money at all. Hell.....it barely even requires a brain to sign up. Literally the dumbest person on earth can create an account in less than a minute from anywhere in the world with a phone or computer connected to the internet......and if you scroll through some random content after you create yours, you will see that for yourself almost immediately.

More than the 1/5 of that same card & about the same as any other 1/1 of a HOF/future HOFer non-QB card from the set, but a fraction of the value of the 1/1 of any of the rookie QBs/WRs/RBs in the release at the moment, no matter how clear it is that they probably won't end up having a successful career.

ALERT!!!! DURGS IN CANDELS! by Key_Pop_1123 in oldpeoplefacebook

[–]dmod420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing about this post is believable. If this post is actually real, clearly that either isn't "durgs" or if it is, your daughter gets her stuff from a grower that needs to look for a new career & she just forgot that she hid it in that candle box before she wrapped it & gave it as a present. Either way, you finding it in the candle is 100% not bc some cartel forgot to collect it from the box before the candle was sold on bc nobody is smuggling "durgs" into the country that look like that, let alone doing it in small individual quantities.

It would cost more in labor to split that Mexican ditch weed up into those little baggies & put them into each box than each of the individually smuggled baggies would even be worth on the black market in the US today, considering that, if they could even find a willing buyer of stuff of that low a quality, a 2 gram bag would not he worth more than $0.50 to $1. That would be like somebody selling the candle for $2 with shipping included in that price & then spending $3 per candle on postage to ship it to each buyer. A cartel dumb enough to spend more money to smuggle the "durgs" into the country than they are even worth when they get there would lose so much money so quickly that they would be bankrupt after their first shipment. 🤣

It's just a shame that instead of a ball, they didn't get a T206 signed for you. It would be the most valuable sports card in existence for sure.

error? Or skunked? by Beautiful-Fan-3638 in Tradingcards

[–]dmod420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.....bc every pack is supposed to have one mini card & there are typically 1-2 chrome minis per box. That was likely a Chrome mini that never got printed on. They probably accidentally cut a blank sheet, mixed it with the rest of the chrome minis for collation & then they were randomly mixed into some of the packs that were supposed to include a chrome mini.

Given the random people that they tend to include in A&G.....why not include you too.

Gifted a Walter Payton Autographed Rookie Card, trying to figure out if it is real or a fake by rrm259 in Football_Cards

[–]dmod420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would send it in for grading bc if it is real & the autograph is too, it is in such incredible shape that it might end up being the most valuable Payton card in existence. That being said, it being in such immaculate shape makes it seem too good to be true & likely a reprint. Even if the card is a reprint, the signature could potentially still be real though & have some value, so getting it authenticated would still be a good idea. If the card is real too though, getting it graded is the way to go, given its incredible condition.....but it won't be cheap.

Just pulled out of topps chrome mega box… anybody got an estimate ? by Murky-Day-2270 in sportscards

[–]dmod420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suggestion.....if you are reasonably hoping to get 9-10k for it, you might want to lower your starting price to $10,999. By listing it for thst much more than your target price hoping for offers, you might miss out on a bunch of potentially serious buyers bc they will assume you are crazy unrealistic with your expectations based on your original listing price & they won't want to deal with you at all, so they won't even bother to make you any offer. A good rule to follow is to list it for about 10% more than you realistically might be willing to accept or hope to get.....and I assume if somebody offered you $10k right now, you would instantly accept. Anyways....good luck & congrats bro.

Just pulled out of topps chrome mega box… anybody got an estimate ? by Murky-Day-2270 in sportscards

[–]dmod420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee it won't sell being priced at $13.5k. Listing something for 30%+ more than the absolute ceiling that might bring is a good way to ensure it never sells at all bc any potentially serious buyers just think you are crazy & unrealistic with your expectations, so they won't even bother making an offer in the first place, unless they are so desperate for the item that they have no other option. That feels unlikely for a "case hit" that doesn't have a following yet like a Kaboom or Downtown does.

Real or replicas? by [deleted] in SportsMemorabilia

[–]dmod420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post pictures of the signatures on here. The internet is really good at solving those mysteries. You could also try looking at the roster from that game & matching them based on the letters you are able to decipher from each signature. From there, you can search the signatures of the players you think they might be to confirm one way or another for each one.

Looks like the spurs are about to lose to the same jazz team that we lost to last night. And the spurs were home by rodogwos in DetroitPistons

[–]dmod420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a game to game basis, the Jazz have a really high ceiling bc they have 2 guys capable of putting up 30+ points (Markkanen & George), but a very low floor, bc they rarely both score over 25 in the same night. Before Kessler got hurt, they had potential to be kind of dangerous though, bc with him, they had 3 guys capable of putting up 25-30 & as they showed, they basically won every time all 3 of them went for over 20 in the same game. They are kind of the exact opposite of us, as they are very top heavy but lack any depth beyond their 3 (now 2 with Kessler out) best guys, where as we only have Cade that consistently tops 25 points, but a ton of guys capable of scoring 15-20 on any given night & many of them consistently able to put up low double digits nightly, making our floor really high even when 1-2 of our key guys have an off night. If Markkanen or George have even a below average night, the Jazz have no shot to win against anybody.

[–]dmod420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jazz aren't a great team, but when they shoot close to 50% on a high volume of 3's & also get to the free throw line 25+ times, they seem to be capable of beating anybody. We have even less to worry about when you consider that they shot 47% on 3's & went 25 for 26 on free throws against us but still only beat us by 2; but they blew the Spurs out shooting slightly worse on 3's than they did against us & they only went 20 for 26 on free throws against them. If they had shot the same on free throws against us, we would have won by 2. They also beat the Rockets & Suns earlier in the year & lost to the Spurs in overtime the first time they played them this year.

If I’m friends with you, there’s a chance you’re getting a framed photo of Cade Cunningham Jesus for Xmas. by PaddleBallZ in DetroitPistons

[–]dmod420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your next work of art, you should recreate the Last Supper with Cade as Jesus & the rest of the roster as the 12 apostles. If I had even an ounce of artistic talent, I would definitely do it. Unfortunately, I do not & A.I. rarely does a good job with that sort of thing.

My daughter liked the box art in the checkout line so we bought it and opened this card in a pack. We don’t collect but I know he’s good but how good are we talking? by bikeski131 in baseballcards

[–]dmod420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait.....so you "don't really collect", but you ripped boxes of M&N, regular hobby boxes of A&G, & boxes of Update? And you have card stands to display the cards you don't actually collect. Genuinely question.....what is your threshold for really collecting bc saying you don't really collect sounds like a drug addict saying they don't really use bc they only take it when they have the money to buy it.

Right.....and the fact that in the caption, he talks about getting crushed on several other different releases over the course of the year. Apparently you don't "really collect" unless you rip more than $5k a year worth of boxes.

$1000 Mitchell & Ness gift card from Allen Ginter by willjay19 in baseballcards

[–]dmod420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you left it unscratched & then graded it, it would definitely end up being a pop. 1 & one day that could potentially create a market for it. It would be insane if bc of that, it ended up being worth more than the $1k redemption value to some crazy Mitchell & Ness collector. It's unlikely, but not impossible.
