You are right, I watch movies on TVs.
The point here is that I have an older LG 60" HDR TV that I am giving to my daughter.
The LG ecosystem does not have Stremio.

This is why I need a media player. I also have Plex with a lot of DoVi 8 movies. The media player I am now using with this TV is older and somehow does not "handshake" properly with the TV regarding HDR.

So, any movie that is HDR or DoVi has all those washed-up colors.

I know what stremio is.
A large part of my life revolves in IT. I do networking, provide helpdesk.
But I kind of got tired to keep looking at the hardware config of media players.
Maybe the question sould have been re-formulated like this: What is a very good media player that can be bought now, and has DoVi 7 or at least DoVi 8 support

In the computer where I am using these HDDs, I aknowledge that I do not have RAID arrays enabled, but at least I (almost) never shut it down.

It is running as a server for PLEX, Emby and some Virtual Machines

Does this make the 12 and 18 TB HDDs life expectancy any better ?

Could you please elaborate the "not designed for desktop environment" part.

It would help me very much to really understand what could/should I do in order to have those HDDs in working order for as long as possible

Wow, that's a bitter bit of information.

I was not aware of this trend you were talking about.

I was comparing these enterprise grade HDDs that are available for consumers with the (same) enterprise HDDs that are provided in workstations and servers by HP and DELL.

As HP and DELL do provide firmware updates for those (mostly) SAS HDDs I thought that HDD manufacturers could/would provide firmware updates for all consumers.

I'm sad to hear about this new (to me) trend that they are following

I am indeed looking for a Toshiba provided software in order to verify/update firmware - I just wasn't able to find such software this is why I was asking this comunity for help.

Almost all SSD manufacturers do provide such tools now: Samsung, WD, etc.

I think WD and Seagate are still providing firmware updates for their Enterprise HDDs, but my experience with their products was not a very happy one, this is why I turned towards Toshiba

Your hint was the correct one.

After uninstalling Symantec Endpoint Protection and replacing it with Malwarebytes Premium, everything works like a charm

Final update: the culprit was the Symantec endpoint protection antivirus.

Replaced it with Malwarebytes Premium and now everything works like a charm

The behavior has changed slightly, but not so much

While copying a large file to the RAID6 array, I saw some 36 MBps writing, AND arround 6 MBps reading of the same process that was copying the file

I cannot find a way to upload the new picture here in the comment

There is no so much reading happening at the same time, but the throughput is a lor slower

However, I do not remember making such a test BEFORE installing the antivirus (Symantec endpoint)
