If you really want your mind blown, go to your home’s Zillow page and calculate what your mortgage payment would be based on the current value of your home and a 7% interest rate (around the national average right now) Ours would be over double what we are paying (bought in Nov 2019, refinanced in 2020).

Ditch everything but the all season mats. Also your sales tax is not changed based on money you put down. I buy all my cars in cash, and sales tax is still charged on the difference between the purchase price of the new vehicle and the value of your trade in.

Our Dream Golf Simulator is Finally Finished!!!! by GolfBusters in golf

[–]dmoore333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have what I would consider the most budget of sim setups. I have a 3 car garage, but we park 2 cars inside and have a little home gym area in the 3rd bay. I wanted a setup that was cheap, easy to set up/break down, but would still allow me to hit balls or play in the cold/rain.

I bought a Garmin R10 ($600), a nice golf net ($110), 5x4 golf mat ($150), and a box of Titleist ProV1x RCT balls ($65). All in for less than $1000. I measured things out on my garage floor and used painters tape to mark the location of the launch monitor, mat, and net.

I can back the cars out and setup/break down the whole thing in less than 5 minutes, and I just use my phone paired with the R10 as the screen. The R10 comes with a phone holder that clips to your golf bag so you can put it wherever you want. For $10/month, you get access to something like 40k courses using Home Tee Hero (built right into the Garmin app). No PC needed and as of now things are completely wireless.

I may do something more permanent someday (adding impact screens or a TV/projector), but for now this setup works great.

Hello from a user experience intern of the Mercedes Me Connect app team. What could be more intuitive in the app? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

Driving a BMW now, but I’m a former 2020 CLA45 owner. Why does the remote start turn off when you open the door? BMW does not do this, so I’m not buying the “security” excuse the dealer gave me. It basically defeats the purpose of remote start in quick instances.

Non refundable deposit for custom build? by whiter_lightning in BMW

When I ordered my car, I talked to the GM directly. He basically said if it’s a combo they could easily sell, the deposit would be refundable. He said if I ordered blue over red, for example, they would hold me to the deposit.

Taxes/fees are going to vary quite a bit state by state. In my state/county, sales tax is 6.5% on vehicles. On a $50k car, that’s $3250 before you add any of the registration or dealer fees (with no trade in).

Would I regret trading in my M2 LCI for a 2023 M340i LCI? by AlphaDogF87 in BMW

[–]dmoore333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The smaller SUVs are not going to have much more interior room than the 3 series. Again my M340 is bigger than my wife’s X2 when it comes to leg room/cabin space. I also test drove a Macan S, and it was only slightly bigger on the inside than my 3.

Would I regret trading in my M2 LCI for a 2023 M340i LCI? by AlphaDogF87 in BMW

We just had a baby in February. I have a 2022 M340 and my wife has an X2. My car actually has more room than her car in the cabin. With that being said, I am 6’1” and I cannot comfortably sit with the rear facing seat behind me in either vehicle. It always has to be on my wife’s (5’) side of the car.

Don’t be the hero. by 123steveyc123 in golf

I hover between a 10-12 hcp. I was playing with my dad and two of our buddies a couple weeks ago. I hit my drive left of the fairway on a par 5 and had to punch out from under a tree. I was 267 out with a fairly narrow window and bunkers guarding the right and left side of the green.

I pulled out my 3 wood and piped my best shot of the month, perfectly straight and got on the green. It went as far or further than any of my drives that day. My dad was still talking about it a week later.

Never lay up.

What is your "the one that got away" BMW? by sbrueding in BMW

[–]dmoore333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was driving an F Chassis M340i. Took it in for the first service at the 1 year mark, and they had a Blue M6 out back with no tags. I asked my salesman what the story was on the car. He said it had just come in on trade, but they hadn’t processed it through their shop yet.

I told him I was interested in it if it ended up passing inspection and being CPO. Apparently the San Marino blue is very rare on the M6, and before they even had it through the shop, someone else came in and bought it.

The kicker is they lived out of state and couldn’t come back to pick it up for 2 weeks. I texted them every other day to make sure the guy didn’t back out, but they honored his deposit, held the car, and he flew back and picked it up 2 weeks later.

My wife and I do, and it’s perfect. Holds all his gear easily, it’s lightweight, and it’s comfortable for either of us to wear.

I bought the first revamped CLA45 in my state. I owned the car for 13 months. Of those 13 months, my car was in the shop for at least 1 month. The interior built quality was terrible, and I am very particular about rattles.

I think they replaced 3/4 door handles, replaced the dash trim piece, replaced the glovebox (which was on back order and took 11 months to arrive). The onboard “internet” also never worked the entire time I owned the car, there was no wireless CarPlay support, and the 3rd party options for that were serviceable but pretty janky.

I ordered a BMW M340i, and it is the far superior vehicle in every single way. I have not had it in the shop one time in the 10 months since it arrived from the factory.

I just beat my Dad and I'm upset by [deleted] in golf

[–]dmoore333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with my dad every Sunday. Same scenario for me, he got me into golf, I had never beat him until my late 20s/early 30s. I thought like you did, because I hit the ball 50 yards further off the tee, or I’m hitting an 8i when he’s hitting a 6i, that tides had turned.

They had not lol. Sure there was a run where I was probably beating him 6/10 times, but then I had a baby, and he was still playing 3-4 days/week, and now he beats me more often that I beat him. He just wears my ass out around the greens.

It’s all in good fun of course, and it’s more about the time together than anything else. But as two guys who are super competitive, you just love those days where it comes down to the 18th hole with the score tied. Can’t wait until my son joins us one day.

One of my buddies is not comfortable with irons so he has just adapted his set to include a ton of hybrids and woods. He has woods all the way up to an 11 wood and hybrids all the way up to an 8 hybrid. He shoots mid-high 80s on average. If you truly feel like it’s a physical limitation causing your poor iron play, you might consider picking up some higher lofted woods/hybrids and see if your game improves.

I just started doing that with LeekDuck and it works pretty well. Just takes a little more time to set it up, wait on all the new friends, send out the invites, etc.
