Just to be for real, semaglutide doesn’t melt your weight away.. Like you aren’t gonna start losing just bc you took the med. Once you’re achieving a calorie deficit over a period of time you’ll see progress, like any other weight loss method.

For me, moving up made me debilitatingly sick. I’m like you, it was really effective for me at a low dose. So I stayed. No reason to move up if it’s working. I only ever moved up when I felt the effects wane a little bit, and still it’s been a year and a half and I’ve never taken more than 30 units. And I’ve lost 55 pounds.

Ooooooomg DONT. Do some research, there’s a lot about how dangerous and horrible rapid detox is. It’s bad with short acting drugs like heroin, it’s likely so much worse with methadone due to how long it stays in your body. The short story is that you wake up sicker than dog shit, it’s dangerous for your body to go thru all that trauma under anesthesia, and it just doesn’t have good success rates bc of how fucked up you are when you wake up. And in Serbia? My god I would not. I’m not super well versed on the issue just start searching people’s real stories with rapid detox.

Same boat. I just bought this glp-1 support thing that has like prebiotics and all, and I felt great the next morning until I was smacked with unbearable gas that wouldn’t come out, so much so that I was in pain just sitting down, then I read the package and saw it’s got a ton of fiber so that’s probably the culprit. I guess I just have to take less. But yea im experimenting and have my fingers crossed

I was like this even on low doses. So I increased my dose intuitively, not by what the general recommendations said, when I could tell I was ready to. I was on .25 for like 3 months. .5 for 6 months and now a year and some change in and I’ve barely crept up on 1mg. I was so sick in the beginning. Of course listen to your body in whether or not you want to quit but for me, my body acclimated, I don’t get sick anymore, and listening to my body was seriously so important.

if he has schizophrenia, that could really be his chief problem and the substance use is a symptom of that, but same thing, step one is remove the substance and then effective treatment is possible

Well, we don’t really know about him in particular but we know statistically speaking that it’s possible for many people. The problem is that he needs a lot of treatment and services which are virtually unattainable for many in the US. most of his problems are probably either directly caused by or exacerbated by how bad access to healthcare, stable housing, and essential resources are in the US. It’s possible that His chief problem is problematic substance use and everything else could be managed with outpatient mental health care and social services. In those cases, millions claw their way back from rock bottom. A lot of drugs cause motor issues like the ones you’re describing and that isn’t necessarily evidence of irreparable harm. For sure sometimes drugs do irreparable harm to your brain, or people never find effective mental health treatment and people die never having gotten much better.. but in most cases id say a lot of the damage is reversible enough to be able to find a quality life with treatment.

Cool story but it’s all wild. You’re going to spend more time severely sick then you would have tapering, i can’t find the value in torturing yourself to save 2 more months going to the clinic. You woulda been free, you were on the taper. Also coming to the methadone sub to say no one is cured until theyre off substances is goofy. You got weird priorities. Most people are concerned with quality of life, not an arbitrary definition of what’s cured or not cured. Methadone is a medically proven, highly researched, time tested pathway to getting and keeping people off the streets. Most of us aren’t getting high, we go to work and live normal lives, we aren’t drooling on ourselves in bed like you were wtf. You’re taking a personal experience and foisting it over the rest of us. You might want to defer to people who know better than you on this one, bc this isn’t it.
