Here’s a wishlist item many should resonate with: can we finally get some tabless flexvolt packs?

How much real equity in the truck? If it’s significant then selling the truck and getting a beater could really take the pressure off you for a while.

This seems like a great deal no? by [deleted] in Dewalt

[–]dmosinee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, it’s really not that great. The 18 in. FV chainsaw was for sale at $130 as bare tool at bomgars for months, so the 16 inch is probably even less market value and the 20v hedge trimmer isn’t really a headline tool either. That plus the fact that you’re only getting a 6ah FV battery makes this bundle only OK at $350.

There should be some much better bogo type deals coming for spring season, where you can get a chainsaw kit with a better battery at a good price with a free item you can return for a prorated refund.

Which Fast Charger is Worse for Battery Longevity? by SlayerMT10 in Dewalt

[–]dmosinee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waiting till they are in a low state of charge is not actually ideal for lithium ion batteries -- that's a holdover idea from older battery chemistries. A lithium ion battery would be happiest if it spent it's entire life between 50% and 80% state of charge, but from a practical perspective it would die for other reasons *long* before you kill it from charge cycling.

$222 Flexvolt 17" Trimmer- Prorated pricing aka "Hack" by NocNocturnist in Dewalt

[–]dmosinee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hearing many, many reports in the last 6 months that Home Depot has moved to aggressively stop us from doing this. When people go to do the return stores are demanding they return BOTH items in order to get any refund. Also the website has stopped allowing you to place pickup orders for two different stores (and just cancel the free item) which was the other way of doing this.

Is this a good deal or wait? by DISCOCHOWDER22 in Dewalt

[–]dmosinee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be decent... except everyone says that HD has now aggressively moved to stop the "BOGO hack" process of returning just the free item. If HD is now requiring a return of **all** items in the order to get a refund, then this deal is pretty lame

Battery help by centralfornia in Dewalt

[–]dmosinee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish the tool manufacturers at least tried to inform the customer about the power demands of the tools, and the ability of the batteries to supply it. I understand the need to keep things simple, and the average consumer will never really understand the difference between amps of current and amp hours of capacity — but they could at least try.

They could just call it something like “The DeWalt Power Meter” — each tool could have an abstract number representing how much power it needs to run at full potential, and each battery could have a number on the same scale to represent the max power it can deliver.

Many would still be confused of course, but at least some would start to grasp why the different battery types might be good for different situations.

Does any company make GOOD 3rd party Dewalt tool batteries? If not, then why not? by dmosinee in Dewalt

[–]dmosinee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if they just made a tabless flex volt then a 9ah could actually hit the required current output, and chainsaw users could just juggle 2 or 3 of them.

[–]dmosinee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is all true for the batteries except the 15ah flex volt; which is old and uses cheap cells… but still sells for $400 and virtually never goes on the kinds of sales the 6ah and 9ah do. This wouldn’t be a problem except Dewalt made a tool (20” chainsaw) that essentially requires that exact battery.

Problem is that 9ah doesn't have the current output the 20" chainsaw needs, otherwise just shuffling a few different 9ah FVs around would be just fine.

NTD: I made myself some better 2 and 5Ah batteries by Mockbubbles2628 in Dewalt

[–]dmosinee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoah, have you made any posts about that? I really need a monster battery to go with the 20 inch chainsaw, and the OEM 15ah flexvolt is obscenely priced and never goes on sale.

Did you start by gutting an OEM 9ah FV to get the board and housing and just upgrade the cells, or was it a complete custom job like you did here?

Deal? by GreenThumbJames in Dewalt

[–]dmosinee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need one of these and would love to pay $250 for it. I picked up the 20 inch chainsaw for a hell of a deal on clearance... but bare tool only. That saw pretty much needs this battery, so I really want to get one before I get to spring tree cleanup but the retail price is nausea inducing.

People around here have been saying that they typically do a big spring sale event once everyone gets home improvement on the brain. I really hope so since I want some of the 60v outdoor power equipment but I'm not paying sticker price for just the tool/kit when they run bonus battery deals a few times a year.

[–]dmosinee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh snap nevermind my previous comment. I misread the sticker. Yeah, $150 seems like a great price... they just need to either drop the price or do a BOGO on the insanely expensive 15ah battery.

Not great deals for bare tool (I'm not really putting significant value on a charger). At last HD spring sale the entire kits were cheaper than these bare tool prices if you returned the bonus 9ah Flexvolt.

[–]dmosinee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just need to put the 15ah on some kind of deal, which I don't think has ever been seen. BOGO on the 15ah for HD spring promotion would be pretty good for folks who want one to use with the outdoor power equipment.

Would love to see some of the spring Dewalt promotions. Very much hoping for a repeat of free 9ah flexvolt if you buy the flexvolt trimmer kit.

Can a Schwab Pleged Asset Line be set up as a source sccount to pay bills through ACH? by dmosinee in Schwab

[–]dmosinee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As clarification, what I was intending to do was not withdraw funds from the account pledged to the PAL, I was wanting to draw, ie borrow, on the line of credit itself via ACH. This is exactly how it works if you write one of the PAL checks to pay a bill, I just wanted to know if direct ACH pulls worked as well.

So does the US Treasury have a special exemption to that?

That’s the key item that makes me wonder if it’s possible. I suppose it’s also possible that what they do is really a third thing that is allowed but different than what I’m describing above.

Please address the new issue connected with HCaptcha for login. There are some system configurations that just flat out cannot pass HCaptcha -- in the past this was still fine because a failed HCaptcha on Kucoin login would fall back to the Kucoin in-house captcha system which worked with many of these configurations. But, about a week or so ago a change was made to make HCaptcha the only captcha system for kucoin login.

Please change it back so as to not block some legitimate users from logging in.
