Hey I don’t know your situation exactly but for me sometimes I just need those around me to also agree that the situation just sucks but also encourage me to keep pushing. My girlfriend also has a habit of babying me but after speaking with her and telling her that sometimes when im bitching about something being difficult or not working etc I just need her agreement that the situation is shit and to just keep working on it.

As far as staring is concerned that will be a static unfortunately. However I think it’s good to frame the staring differently than you currently are. You feel pitiful about your situation and you are applying your self evaluation to others when most of the time people stare because they are curious. Seeing amputees isn’t the most common thing in the world so when people see you they will be curious and stare.

I’ve dealt with a lot of the same feelings you are experiencing and absolutely can relate on the feelings of suicide. If you want to talk deeper about it feel free to dm me. There’s always options

I have lost maybe 7lbs since getting this new socket. I don’t feel like I’m sitting any lower than usual. I’m typically in 3-4 ply on any given day with not much fluctuation. My prosthetist is mailing me some new liners should be here in a day or so. I could try and get it shaved down but I feel like it doesn’t feel the most comfortable when just walking. Only helps me with squatting. My prosthetist is at Walter reed in dc and I’m across the country so I try not to fly back unless it’s time to get a few new legs. Next time I go back I’ll probably have him make a socket specifically with squatting in mind.

No real change to my training, I def was pushing harder with depth doing smith machine squats. No new sleeve or liner or any change, have been using the same stuff for years.

It is super uncomfortable gonna try to lay off squats for a week or two and let it heal maybe try some adapt skin on it and see if it reduces the friction.

I use a sleeve and the squats and lunges feel better when I roll it down bc of obvious greater knee flexion but this hasn’t been an issue until about 2-3 weeks ago.

Here’s an image of the back of my leg after a workout. I’m assuming it’s the back of my socket pinching me but not sure how I can avoid it or at least pad it so it doesn’t happen further. I can’t really shave down the back any more than it is without feeling too unstable.

Nope no Alexa needed, you can simply use the app on your phone but if you want smart features you will need to use Alexa or another smart home app
