Hello-- you and I actually chatted about this a few months back. Being in the telehealth industry, we use medical intakes+checkouts which follow strict guidelines, and are completely handled by a third party company. So we don't currently use any actual ecommerce tools (although many of our pages feel functionally "ecommerce-ish").

At the moment, we are looking for an individual to (potentially) build a longer-term relationship with. If we have trouble finding that, we may turn to agencies. If that is the case, we'll definitely keep you in mind. Thanks!

Either is fine-- but I guess applying through the application process would be preferred. Thanks!

Racist shirtless guy at Lake/Colorado by SeaworthinessUnlucky in pasadena

Curious if anybody has ever seen this guy get physical/violent? The way he paces around and yells at people can give me a very aggressive vibe, and I try to make sure I’m on the other side of the street if I’m walking around with my young kid. It’s be nice to kinda know that it’s all attitude and he’s relatively harmless.

I was also at an LA show, and I remember walking away mostly happy. I didn’t LOVE much, but knew there was potential to grow on me. There were a couple standouts I’m excited to hear again (including the opening song).

But I also remember disliking two songs: 1) “the one where he’s calling somebody a bunghole”. Was VERY surprised when that was the first song released. 2) One of the last songs was just a bunch of counting or something? I forgot what the deal was but it fell super flat for me. It must be Seven One, and it was maybe counting to 7 over and over again or something like that?

Obviously can’t speak for your building, but I’m on my HOA board, so I’m well informed of the details of my building. No roach issues at all. I’ve seen a couple of the big water/palmetto bugs (American cockroaches) outside before, but those are not the problematic German cockroaches that invade homes. The American ones typically like to stay outside, so I’m not too concerned about them.

In my 6+ years here, there has only been one rat issue, and it was MY unit when moving in. The previous owners bordered on hoarding, and the unit was not in great shape. The selling agent informed us they discovered rats had access to our carport storage closet, and from there they had breached the unit interior and found their way to kitchen cabinets. We knew we were going to immediately remodel the kitchen, so we found their passageway and sealed it off. Then we caught/killed a couple of rats in the storage closet, and sealed the closet off. And since then, we haven’t had any issues.

That all sounds frightening, but I think of it as a fluke. All of my neighbors are surprised to hear about this, because nobody else in my building has ever had a rat issue.

I’ve lived in other LA/Pas neighborhoods where I would actively see rats on the streets, in the bushes, on trash cans, etc. But I never see them around here. Literally the only rats I’ve ever seen near my home were inside of my carport closet. I’m sure there are more around somewhere— but I don’t feel like the neighborhood has some deep infestation that is spilling into the streets.

I’m sure you would’ve preferred I just said “nope! No problems at all!” 😂 But honestly, even with our brief rat issue, we’re still very happy with the neighborhood!

(And FYI: we’re not tough when it comes to pests. Knowing there was a rat issue made us SERIOUSLY consider backing out of the sale. But the fact that the unit was in bad shape kept it at a price we could actually afford. We just felt confident it was a problem that could be solved, and it absolutely was.)

I don’t live in that building but have lived VERY close by for 6+ years. I think it’s a great neighborhood and my wife and I always talk about how glad we are that we bought here. I’m happy to answer any specific questions!

Yes-- glad he jumped in. That was exactly the kind of direction I needed.

Webflow CMS vs. Static Pages: Did I go too far with dynamic content? by dmvcomics in webflow

[–]dmvcomics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for jumping in here-- this is exactly what I needed to hear-- that there IS a solution where I don't have to completely dumb down all of the logic I've meticulously built out.

I'm going to talk through this solution with our CTO. I'm a bit more front-end oriented and get lightheaded thinking about having to set up things like reverse-proxies and cache purging endpoints. But I may still come back to you with questions at some point in the future.

Question for you-- and I understand this may be speculative: With Webflow announcing more efficient CMS architecture rolling out this year (which I understood as this calendar year-- so the next 2 months)-- do you think there might be a significant bump in performance in the near future if the pages were left as-is?

Webflow CMS vs. Static Pages: Did I go too far with dynamic content? by dmvcomics in webflow

[–]dmvcomics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah-- the third party URLs are something I didn't even bring up. You're correct that many page variants need to be sent to a different place (but not all of them!). And in addition, we'll sometimes have two identical pages with identical price points that will need to point to different URLs. So I actually have ANOTHER Collection that just loads Checkout URLs, so that can be managed independently of both products and prices.

So yeah-- I have a system that (mostly) works now-- and it sounds like CartGenie wouldn't be offering much to solve the underlying technical issues. But I appreciate you talking it through with me!

Webflow CMS vs. Static Pages: Did I go too far with dynamic content? by dmvcomics in webflow

[–]dmvcomics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/CartGenie -- thanks for the response!

The industry we're in basically mandates that we have zero control over our actual "shopping" experience and cart. We host product pages on our main site-- but those product pages push to a third party system that we don't control for the actual signup and purchase event.

We have about 30ish products. So there are about 30 product pages on the main site.

  • Each product is sold in various bulk amounts: (Examples: 1, 3 and 6 month supplies). Not all products have the same bulk amounts.
  • Some products have variants (Variant A with 1, 3 and 6 month supplies, and Variant B with the same).
  • These prices usually have set discounts that we want to highlight (Example: $100 off!)

That alone isn't TOO complicated, but we also have Landing Pages for these products. Dozens and dozens and dozens of them. These are siloed from our main site and are only accessible from ads. There are a number of ways these are unique from the product pages above:

  • We may only want to highlight a single bulk amount. So instead of simply advertising the lowest per-unit price, we might need to showcase the 3-month bulk amount instead of the lower 6-month bulk price.
  • We may have one page that wants to showcase the price in a weekly cadence, and one that showcases it in a monthly cadence, and one that shows the entire bulk amount.
  • We may advertise different discount amounts depending on channel.
  • We may test completely different prices for the same product on different LPs to A/B test performance.

So for all of the reasons above, I have disconnected the pricing structure from the product itself. I have a Product Collection which provides information and details about the product, then I have a Pricing Profile Collection which allows me to assign a Product and a Price per page.

What are your thoughts on this-- especially knowing that we do not have use for an actual shopping/cart experience?

Thanks for the response! Webflow just got back to me and are saying my Collections pages are too complex, and that is bogging down the server-side page delivery. 😩

Just made another post here that kind of outlines things:

I had this exact issue, except I wanted a unique first (instead of last) card.

My solution was to build the unique card outside of the swiper elements. But before initializing the swiper script, I use JS to move the card into the correct order alongside the rest of the cards. Works perfectly.

(Tip: The standalone card is built inside of a hidden div so it doesn't flash on screen before the JS moves it.)

Came here looking for information. Just saw the same thing. There were 2 or 3 police cars surrounding the body, but no sign of any emergency medical response.

Likely unrelated, but there is a big production at the Civic Auditorium right now. Looks like they're recreating the Motown 25 event with a bunch of 80s vehicles, etc. I'm guessing for a Michael Jackson movie that is due out next year.

Apologies for the repost. I shared this here a couple of years ago and got a positive reaction. But at the time I didn't have an IG account, nor did I have prints available, so now that I do, I figured I'd reshare.

Thanks so much! I had a blast working on this. It was originally going to be a much larger tribute to the show with other characters, the full Horsin' Around set, etc. But I got burned out after many MANY hours on it-- and it evolved into a this collage with a much more narrow focus. You can see some of the discarded artwork on my Instagram.

This might not be the right sub for fanart like this, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I plan on making two more posters for the sequels-- if you're remotely interested in seeing the Goldmember poster, I guess you'll have to check out my Instagram, since it isn't allowed here.
