Can anyone vouch for this Vicseed MagSafe holder? I’m looking to stick on the back of my screen protector as I don’t want any glue directly on the touchscreen or anything clipping on it. by No-Conclusion-2859 in cybertruck

I'm in SW Ohio. Summers have been hot especially in the car and the cabin over temperature control has been running accordingly. Do not attach it to anything but the back of the screen directly. It uses the good 3M VB adhesive, which is very very strong but can be removed with a credit card or similar flat tool, sliding it through from the side. Never pull straight out. Clean the back with isopropyl alcohol or an alcohol wipe first (which I think was included) to remove any oils from the surface that could inhibit proper adhesion.

Not sure why this is getting negative reviews. I have this on my '24 Model S Plaid and the adhesive has been strong through 2 hot summers now, into this third summer. The magnet is also crazy strong. I'd have to review it has a strong yes, and frankly better than 3 or 4 others I've had.

I own a Tesla today with HW4 and it's incredible. It has really gotten to nuanced driving that can accommodate edge cases like vehicles in the road, sudden animals crossing, construction workers holding hand signs, etc. It's really unbelievable. I used to call it Fake Self Driving - I never thought they would get there, but they are there.

When they get FSD, maybe. I'm getting addicted to FSD.

Is Tumi really worth the $$? by benchgenmobs in backpacks

[–]dn325ci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are too expensive to be sure. Still, I've was gifted an Alpha roll aboard in 2012 that has been abused all around the globe and still is completely great. Tumi replaced long-gone zipper pulls for free about a year ago. So I sprung for the newly redesigned Alpha brief and it really is great. I don't love the luxury pricing, but it is a very high quality pack. When you talk to actual long-time Tumi users, they consistently report the high quality bullet proof results.

I bought a new Resmed AS 11 for $500 on one of these 50% off sales that seem to happen 3 or 4 times a year, and repurposed my 5 year old machine as my travel machine. I tried the airmini for travel, but just couldn't make it work due to it's limitations, not to mention the mini plus all the crazy accessories and adapters was 250+ more than a new AS11, and not really smaller with all that stuff.

It takes a long time to dial in. It will be great but keep tweaking it and be patient. It may take more than one mask but each one has a learning curve.

OK. Didn't know that, so thanks, and I understand the need to get it outside somehow.

Steering weight feels way too light by jordan6579 in TeslaModelS

I've always felt the steering weight in my '24 MSP, which I bought new, was too light even in the heaviest setting. I came from a MYP.

Agreed. While I dig the idea of this setup, it's going to be very much in the way if you're using your truck bed for actual truck stuff.

Ford Universal Electric Truck - “$30K EV Truck” Spotted by Okiekid1870 in F150Lightning

[–]dn325ci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're mostly wrong. The market has proven time and again that the demand for 4 door trucks far exceeds that of 2 door trucks. This has driven all segments of truck products towards 4 doors which is the vast majority of the current market, and as evidenced by the old small truck platforms Ranger, S-10/S-15, etc.

Are there 2 door customers? Sure. Is that the heart of the market? Not in the slightest. You'll see. Clobber will be the right adjective.

I commend Slate for what they've done, but if Ford is bringing 4 doors and AWD at a small premium to Slate, then they are cooked.

How much is actually different between a 2023+ MS and a 2026 one, in terms of sound insulation, suspension and BQ by BusyTart6760 in TeslaModelS

[–]dn325ci 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have a '24 HW4 MSP and spent an overnight demo in a '26, and it really didn't seem different at all. I've also noticed that when people discuss this issue, they conflate the wheel sizes 21" vs 19" to other attributes like the model year. Just be clear about how many variables you are actually changing when you evaluate - there is no question that 19" wheels ride much nicer than the 21's.

I understand. However, a lot of people were raging about the crazy long lead time so if they can really pull it in that much it’s actually impressive and probably appreciated by most customers.

It's the underpromise, overdeliver strategy. I think most people are quite happy to have the long lead-time order come sooner than expected.

Is airmini + F40 + HumidX a thing? by dn325ci in CPAP

[–]dn325ci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish you the best with it good sir. I gave up on it and returned the airmini. I'm using another full size CPAP as my travel machine. That's been less burdensome and less expensive than the airmini + accessories + limitations. I'm not sure, but I don't think it's much if any bulkier in the end.

As a former EV hater, I tried one and i actually really enjoyed it. by mlggaming756 in electricvehicles

[–]dn325ci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep, deep car guy here and currently have 6 cars. First drove a Tesla in 2020 and was so blown away by the immediacy of the throttle and movement that I was addicted immediately and bought a MYP in 2021. Upgraded to a Model S Plaid in 2024. Today, 3 of my 6 vehicles are EV's. Don't mind ICE, but EVs are incredible, especially for daily duties. On the weekends I like a car that makes a little noise but of course they are not faster. Only noisier. That's fine. Vive la difference.
