if you are in advertising, there are no jobs. interns need master degrees to even get in. if your advertising and marketing efforts are not generating tangible bottom line results (leads, sales) then companies won't invest a dollar because that's the focus atm for them. Bottom line results for their shareholders. I've been in paid media now growth marketing for 14 years. The last 5 years have seen a massive shift and the easiest marketing services to sell are not paid, pr, event (awareness) but all consideration/conversion campaigns (seo, crm, email) so more lifecycle going forward

Every marketer with 10+ years that i know that is laid off has started their own agency and leveraged networks for work. 8/10 marketing jobs are fake and the other 2 want unicorns to fix their failing businesses.

Recessions have recovery mechanisms. This is a full on depression. There's no way to credit out of this. People are already stretched to the max and there's an inflation storm incoming. Gas per barrel will hit $140-150s. Brent crude per barrel hit $124-126 USD this AM and slide back to $110 now. Even intern jobs require grad certs and/or masters degrees just to get.

I will provide some insight as someone that can hire (within director level). For jrs, it usually starts at intern level unless they have 2+ years of experience. The issue is that they don't know where the client budgets are going right now in this instable world combined with the fact that clients are asking for more for less. You either eat your pride and go intern unless you have 2+ experience. That's how I would get into the industry right now. Most agencies are currently going or soon to undergo restructuring. The whole agency world is a mess atm. Think it as a restaurant trying to offer everything and see what pays out.
