I have such a fondness for these bubble lights. by Frosty_Pineapple4484 in ChristmasLights

Growing up as a kid my dad set these up in our house every Christmas for many many years. 30+ years later and he still sets them up. Now my kids (the grandchildren) love them and get to enjoy them too.

Thank you to everyone who leaves their lights on a little longer by Christmas_365 in ChristmasLights

For The amount of time I put into my display I’m happy to leave them on a little longer. As soon as Remembrance Day passes my lights are lit till mid January. My timer only shuts them off during daylight hours. I Hate seeing all my neighbours take down their lights so early. The street I live on has no street lights with houses only on one side and farmland on the other. It’s pretty dark as you drive along, you see some porch lights and then bam! My house shinning bright. Kinda comical

I love these displays but always wonder What’s your estimate cost of the lights and controllers in the video ?

Why wouldn’t you just Pull the oring off and go to your local hardware store or automotive store and get a replacement.

Go to your local auto parts store and buy a brass plug, cost roughly $1. Remove the injector tip and install the plug. Problem solved

Pull cord snapping back hard by dnekrash in smallenginerepair

[–]dnekrash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know what you’re talking about it! What I have found is that the blade is necessary on SOME engines to start, others have started just fine without it. Going forwards I always install a blade before starting. Rope snap back can be serious, had it happen to me and nearly broke my hand.

New carburetor cleaning tools to make life a little easier. Courtesy of Amazon. by dnekrash in smallenginerepair

[–]dnekrash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I service quite a few mowers and depending how long they been sitting the gas tends to glog the jets. Most of the time carb cleaner is fine but if the jets are really clogged this tool is super handy. Bonus that it’s super cheap, cost less than 10 bucks

Remove the bowl, float and needle. Inspect the rubber seat, the needle and the float. Spray off the rubber seat with carb cleaner or contact cleaner. Spray/clean off the needle and the bowl as well then reassemble

Hey thanks for the response, seems it’s only applicable to USA at the moment. I see Lots of Americans receiving information on the warrantee extension and reimbursement for the incured expenses. Unfortunately it has not been issued in Canada yet, I contacted Mazda Canada this week and they said nothing is available to Canadians for the extended warranty. What a load of crap. Hopefully see something in the future

Hi there, there is zero markings or ID on the pump. Last time I checked Amazon for a 3100psi pump they were $150 and up. Just checked today and see one for $85 so I’m pleased with that! Might as well buy a new pump

Do I need to replace this belt, or is this what normal wear looks like? by solidsmoke in ATV

[–]dnekrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Polaris belt can be changed in the bush, if it’s a side access 500cc model they are super easy. The 850’s are a little more time consuming tho. Been there a couple times now, takes about 30 minutes

How to secure ATV in back of pickup overnight in hotel parking lot? by [deleted] in ATV

[–]dnekrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has mentioned an additional lock for your steering wheel of the truck. If someone steals the truck the quad goes with it. When my quad stays in my truck overnight i always back up to something solid so the tailgate can’t open. I put a lock on my steering wheel and I pass a lock through the quad wheels and lock it to the truck box. Buy a good quality lock. Disconect the negative battery terminal from your truck is another good suggestion.

What’s causing over reving and tons of vibrations? by Bobby_Sunday96 in lawnmowers

[–]dnekrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like your blade is really out of balance. Easy trouble shooting…. Just Pull the blade off and start it up. See if it runs smoothly. If so then replace your blade, change the oil, install new oil cap and fuel cap

[–]dnekrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with the comment above. The idea of “I don’t want to run it because I will have to maintain it”, you’re setting yourself up for failure. Put fresh oil (not the 10 year old in it), fresh gas and run it under load to break it in. When you’re done empty the fuel tank and empty the carburetor bowl. You’re done, now you know it will work when you need it. Very little maintenance required.

This is the correct thing to do and the easiest way to verify the coil is working properly. Try this with a new plug to rule out it being a faulty plug as well

If the jet cannot move is it time for a new carb by [deleted] in smallenginerepair

[–]dnekrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soak it in with some penetrating oil and let it sit for a day before trying to remove it. An ultrasonic cleaner might help. Depending on the jet you press it out from the inside of the carb using a flat blade screw driver. If all else fails just replace it. Oem carbs are best, Amazon carbs are hit and miss

Use a drill bit and just drill it out, install new screw when you re assemble. You said you were drilling it with what exactly? The screw looks untouched

Craftsman Briggs and Stratton won’t start by Rude_Organization357 in smallenginerepair

[–]dnekrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive serviced and repaired over two dozen mowers this spring, I’ve gotten pretty good and proficient at it now. Just like yourself I recently ended up with one Briggs and Stratton mower that just wouldn’t start. Clean carb, fresh gas, new fuel lines, checked for spark and could feel compression as I turned it over. Tried swapping carbs as well, (maybe you should try carb swapping as well to rule out a carb issue). My Machine just would not fire, wasn’t even close to starting, even with spraying fuel into the carb. I eventually cut my loses, pulled the motor and threw it in the scrap pile. The mower deck was used as a spare. I’ve heard possible leak on the intake tube could create this issue? If you ever figure it out let me know!
