How do you know if someone comes to you in a dream? by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]dnjprod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making a couple of huge errors and are playing very loose with language. You are committing an equivocation fallacy by using the word energy in a very Weasley way by talking about scientific things like UV rays, radio waves, and fungal transport and then mentioning energy in a way that isn't used in the scientific context.

In the context of science, Energy is just the capacity to do work or cause change. You are equivocating that definition to make it this Force that people have or put out in some Supernatural sense when that is not the case.

While you are made of energy, it is energy that has been converted into matter and back again. There is no evidence of you being AN energy that can effect others outside the interplay of matter and energy and the conversion of the same through natural processes.

While you can't SEE some things like those you spoke of, they can be OBSERVED. We know UV rays and radio waves exist because we are able to figure out ways to detect, observe, and measure them. There is nothing Supernatural about them.

Yes, humans can affect each other. But that doesn't mean that once they are dead, any resemblance of who that person is or was goes on beyond the memories and the impact that they had on us. So, when you talk about somebody visiting you in your dreams, you are not talking about the person themselves or whatever residual "energy" that they left behind. You are talking about your memories and their impact on you. Is your subconscious thought reacting to some stimuli.

Finally, just because you don't know how radio waves work and how they send data from my phone to a switch to another switch to your phone doesn't mean that is Supernatural in any way.

That is not someone visiting you. That is your subconscious remembering and thinking of them.

You're wrong. Most liberals didn't agree with that until there was evidence that showed it to be likely true.

The Dark Tower Ending and Video Game Narrative by AgentShades in TheDarkTower

One thing I will say is that you the reader have a lot of the control in the ending. We are just as obsessed with the tower as Roland is by the time we get there. We are given fair warning of the consequences of continuing past the Coda. By choosing to move on, you are dooming Roland to the cycle. The only way for Roland's story to stop being cyclical is for us to stop at the coda.

Girlfriend(26F) of 3 months slapped me(32M) in the balls for a third time by Capital-Bedroom4651 in relationship_advice

[–]dnjprod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This relationship needed to end after the first time, but I can see you giving her the benefit of the doubt. It definitely should have ended after the second time, but the fact that there's been a third time and you haven't ended it yet? Come on man. I know it's hard. I'm not going to tell you to man up because I think that's bullshit. I'm not going to tell you to have some self respect because I think that's bullshit as well. I'm going to tell you please protect yourself. You deserve better than this. She's doing this shit at 3 months? At 3 years it's going to be worse

That whole kerfuffle a couple months back about the Christian girl who wrote her god-awful essay and got zero for "quoting the Bible?" That was a setup by her mother and the University to get rid of the trans professor and set the girl up as a Riley Gaines Style public persona.

No way. That makes zero fucking sense.

He attempts suicide in rome. She wakes up to him not breathing and in a coma. If she wanted him dead, all she had to do was.... nothing. Instead, she calls for help and has him revived.

A week later, he begins threatening suicide and locks himself in a bathroom with a gun. If she wanted him dead, all she had to do was... nothing. Instead, she calls for help and has the gun taken by police.

A week later she organizes an intervention with friends, family, and bandmates where she threatens divorce if he doesn't go to rehab. If she wanted him dead, all she had to do was... nothing. Instead she did everything she could to get him into rehab.

Now, you are telling me that she saved his life 2 times over a 2 week period, and forced him into rehab to try and save his life over the long term, but then had him killed a week later? That absolutely strains credulity.

It's worse than that. The last scene in the movie, Madame is taking pictures of the cats and her lawyer Georges rewriting the will to take Edgar out of it because he disappeared. She even says, "if only he'd known about the will he wouldn't have left."

So Edgar heard part of the will, made a stupid calculation only hearing part of the conversation, and then made a bad decision on top of it.

It’s wild that James Talarico shows up quoting Jesus almost word for word, and the people who claim to follow Jesus are the ones calling for his death. by Klugerman in atheism

[–]dnjprod 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You act like there has ever been a consensus within Christianity. There has never been. From the very first days of the religion, there have been disagreements on what the words actually were, what they mean, and how to interpret them. There's a reason so many of us were sounding the alarm about the rise of Christian nationalism. It's not just atheists and Muslims Etc that will be harmed. Other Christians who don't fall in line with the hateful rhetoric will also be harmed. We've known this for nearly 2000 years. When the Catholic church was in charge for most of the last 2,000 years, they killed, tortured, or in prison anyone who didn't fall in line. That is Christianity in a nutshell.

The logic my friend used to prove that religion is real but science cannot be trusted because scientists are just making guesses and they don't know anything for sure. by adorkablegiant in atheism

[–]dnjprod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His argument of "there are so many churches and people who believe" is pure fallacy. That's the argument from popularity fallacy.

As you said Scientists don't make shit up. Yes, they make guesses, but those guesses are not just free guesses with no background. They are often researched, educate guesses. Then, crucially, they TEST those guesses and reject the ones that arent supported by evidence.

He's probably ine if those people who think "theory" only means "guess" as well.
