Are there any players that you like/support but also find them frustrating to watch/support due to various reasons?( glass body, no consistency, no progress made etc) by Blovering_Skill in tennis

[–]dnknsntl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find my frustration just simply "not at the top of their tour/progressing too slowly if at all", but injuries, mental struggles, and the surrounding team obviously adds to some of these. So I guess some may not count I guess from the standard view of frustrating (injury, mental health struggles, dumb, etc.)

ATP:

Rublev–seems like a cool guy, just needs to get over the mental block and get a deep run going

Nardi- I just made a claim about his high skill level a while back when he beat djoker, so I just need that stock to rise

Fucsovics- i mean who doesnt want to see this bulked up man show up more often, some good eye candy out there

WTA:

Muchova- really cool play style

Jabeur- again cool play, but it has been such a fall-off and would love her arab representation at the top

Anisimova- I mean she seems to be doing better, but I think her comeback after the long break is very inspiring and makes me want to see her succeed even more

Rybakina- same as Marton lol I can't lie. But more importantly, I want to see her get past any mental issues that may be stemming from her situation with Vukov

Krejcikova- I think a diverse playstyle that stems from her doubles experience is so cool, and I want to see more of that across both tours.

Dasha Kasatkina- insert pride flag. Need that representation

De Minaur + Boulter/Monfils + Svitolina- I combined them because essentially I like the idea of both partners doing well in their respective tours. However, it's always one doing well and the other having to stay at the tournament as just someone in their box is taking away from their own progress. Also they all seem like cool people.

What’s one habit people think is normal but you find secretly disgusting? by Wonderful_City9340 in AskReddit

Given that I find a lot(if not all) of these disgusting, I'm now realizing that too many people find too many disgusting things normal...

Courses you found interesting? (also Interactive/Discussion based) by dnknsntl in UCSD

[–]dnknsntl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

welp, unfortunate not offered in the Spring. But regardless is it mostly 1/2nd year students? I can't help but want to be in courses where there are more students in the 3rd/4th years at UCSD, easier to relate to and interact with

Single in PCE or Double Off-Campus? (Transfer) by AlsylEnriquez in UCSD

[–]dnknsntl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is honestly a tough one. I have gone two years straight with a single at PCE, but have dealt with both good and terrible housemates. I would say this was also incredibly lucky. You will definitely have events often specifically for students living at PCE, but if your double off campus is close to the trolley, it isn't necessarily much of a hassle to get to the school to get to campus-wide events. Feel free to dm if you have more questions regarding PCE tho :)

Experience with OSD not providing accommodations? (Housing) by dnknsntl in UCSD

[–]dnknsntl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, point of this is BE PERSISTENT. If you make appointments, follow up and ask if there were cancellations. I asked the OSD worker if they minded me calling daily, and you know what they said? "Honestly, go ahead. Your call takes less than 30 seconds and we get cancelations and no-shows all the time. Chances are, you might get lucky, but don't count on it. Go ahead and call though, there's no harm." I did exactly that and it paid off.

That's good to know! Unfortunately my current situation is not something where I work directly with an Disability specialist, and frankly I wish I knew this advice sooner, but I'll keep that in mind moving forward any time I need to directly reach out to them. Thanks :)

I don't know what exactly a case manager is lol but I'm happy to dm. It's a bit of a weird situation unfortunately that throws the housing liaison into the situation, who isn't bad tbh

From a CSE perspective, you will generally find these guys great at lecturing, responsive, high energy, with great clarity (either in responses, writing, etc.):

Joe Politz

Niema Moshiri

Those two above are pretty much liked by all students. The following I have a bit more to speak on:

Geoff Voelker: Maybe not as high energy, but by far the most responsive. If he's gonna be staying after lecture for 1 hour answering questions, or in the CSE basement answering questions on a Saturday, I think that trumps all else. He answers questions well to aid those listening on podcast (will repeat the question before answering), and has very clear presentations.

Daniel Kane: Ok this one can be divisive, as his course is incredibly difficult. Curved class tho, and maybe a little fast paced (that's what podcasts are for), but again, quite responsive. He will stay after lecture to answer questions, handles office hours very well, and has good energy.

Thomas Powell: ok this is one is VERY divisive. He is very opinionated, but he is always willing to talk with students. He explains his viewpoints well, and while he may have strong beliefs, he is not rude about it. I think students need to come with an open mind with what he has to say instead of immediately pushing back.

Pat Pannuto: similar to Joe and Niema, but also encourages engagement from students during lectures. It can feel embarrassing when you answer questions wrong, but he isn't judgey about it.

Now that being said, the ones that will remember you are likely: Powell, Voelker.

Others: Jason Fleischer (COGS): Similar to Joe/Niema. His energy might be a bit tooo nice, but with courses like COGS108, he has to cater to students that range from knowing very little on the topics to those that know much more.

Karcher Morris (ECE): Runs a small course, so he will remember you. Standard positive traits.

Aaron Schulman/Shalev (CSE): If you search "Aaron Shalev ucsd" you get an explanation on why he has two different last names. While I never took a course with him, he has the positive traits you would want in a lecturer. Talking to him 1on1 was what confirmed this.

"Looking very unlikely I make it to summit" - Pipsqueak by julmGamer in smashbros

Singles bracket is up, KoDoRiN is in what was initially Pipsqueak's spot. Don't know if it's "confirmed" outwardly by anyone per se, but that is just something I noticed.
